Re: TV's with Freesat built in

You can record using a DVD recorder plugged into the SCART output...

As son-t says, but of course you can only record the programme the TV is tuned to, & it has to be left on.

Preferable ways of recording Freesat are (a) by getting a Humax Foxsat HDR or one of the other similar PVRs now on the market; or (b) getting a separate Freesat box & recording from that. Either of those ways will enable you to record one channel while watching another. (But only one of the PVRs will allow you to record in HD.)

Re: TV's with Freesat built in

The LG has the Humax FOXSAT-HD inside.

I've no idea how the TV works, but the FOXSAT-HD has the facility of setting Watch timers... When the box is in standby - it will turn on for you to watch - and even better if you have a recorder that can be activated by signals on the SCART input - then you can record... (It will turn off when the programme is finished too.)

But the quality will be absolutely awfull (cvbs) unless some on comes up with a TV that can output RGB (does the LG TV have a RGB output from the internal foxsat-hd ?).

Well, not for those people who simply want to watch Freesat - but for anyone who wants to record it you're quite right. On the other hand, much the same applies to Freeview - why bother having a tuner in the the TV, if you have two in a PVR?

I suppose what's missing with Freesat is a reasonably priced SD PVR - or DVD/HDD recorder with a Freesat tuner inside, which in conjunction with a Freesat TV would permit "Record one/Watch another".

Re: TV's with Freesat built in

I imagine we will get TVs with built in freesat and a built in HDD. You can already get this with Freeview.
