Freesat via sky+ HD advise needed

Hi,

Need a bit of advice/ help. I want to run freesat HD mainly because sky HD dont have ITV HD. I currently have sky+ HD and want to know if there is a card or 'plug in' i can connect to the sky+ HD box to also get Freesat HD. I dont know if this is possible.

If not it there something i can add to my TV (1080p full HD) it has loads of input plus a rectangle slot thing on the side that may be of use (sorry not technically minded on these kind of things)

I dont really want another box or remote as i have remotes and boxes for everything everywhere lol (sky, tv, dvd, ps3, xbox, wii, amp, tuner, cd player, well you get the idea)

Is this possible??

If not whats the best way of getting FreeSat HD which will run smoothly with my sky+ HD?

Thanks in advance

Re: Freesat via sky+ HD advise needed

If you want to run a Freesat HD box alongside a SKY+HD box then the LNB on the dish should have 2 spare outputs, connecting suitable sat cable to one of the these will allow the signal from the dish to be sent to the Freesat box.

Of course it's worth mentioning that apart from ITVHD there are no channels on Freesat SD or HD that can not be watched on the SKY+HD (infact the SKY EPG has many more free tv and radio channels but they can be added manually to the Freesat box) and as you know ITVHD is accessible with the updated SKY EPG.

Unless ITVHD is worth around £100 to buy the box and cabling then there really isn't a point in getting Freesat to have in the same room on the same TV as SKY+HD.

You can get a non PVR freesat Hd box for well less than £100.

I bought mine for £50 in empire direct just before it went bust and I beleive comet were recently selling some for £60.

Flea bay might even produce a cheaper one.

Personally, I think the £50 I paid for the box has been worth it since it has given me every ITV football match in HD, forever, so it just depends what you are into.

Excellent, add a few quid for the cabling and he is in business.

I wasn't thinking of the cabling. But you do have a point. Does the OP know if his LNB is already quad?

At the moment I run freesat alongside sky because I have the amstrad box and no new epg yet to get ITV HD.

It isn't an ideal soluttion but I just swap the f connector at the back of the box when I want to watch ITV HD.

It messes up recordings but then again the fact that sky only has 2 tuners is a pain to begin with.

OP, what sky box do you have? If it is samsung then the new epg may be imminent on it anyway so you would have no need for freesat at all.
