Firmware update but no FTP

Re Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Well I don't think the update contains an FTP server that I was hoping for.
Don't suppose they will ever include one.

So are there any new Freesat PVR boxes that have FTP capabilities ?

Also I was on holiday recently and some form of web enable EPG to allow remote program scheduling would be nice.

It seems that all the consumer electronics manufactures live in the dark ages where appliances are stand alone!

Thanks
JL

I know it's an expensive solution, but the answer is to get a Dreambox - it has everything you want and more.

re: Firmware update but no FTP

Soooooooooo disappointed. Humax rep confirmed that their earlier hopes of adding FTP have now come to nought see So are we now stuck with USB for transferring recordings - Hummy.org.uk Forums.

I expect they tried FTP when the box was recording two HD channels and watching a third and found there wasn't enough umph (technical term) - shame they did not stick it in a secret menu and at least let those who can be careful (and are willing to take risk of a lockup/reboot/lost recording) make use of it.

Only hope for HDR FTP seems to be a hack to the firmware, I think I read there had been a hack to icord (HDR cousin product) that enabled FTP, Samba and more.

damn, damn, damn. Very disappointing.

What about being able to watch content off the HDR using the HD? I seem to remember reading about that as well?

Its a real shame, I think there are a LOT of IT folk out there who would leap at this product if they could just get the FTP working.

But cheer up guys. At least the EPG channel genre screen is divided into two columns which you must admit is life-changing

30 seconds after the family got their hands on the box after upgrade I was greeted by a "whats happened to the genre screen, its rubbish" from wife and daughter. They have not noticed any of the other changes as yet (it is I that generally does the deletion !).

They will however appreciate iplayer I think. If there had been FTP (or samba ! i.e. it appears as a shared drive) added I could easily have sold it into a couple of guys at work, as we know USB is just a bit poor.
