Re: Humax FOXSAT-HD firmware v1.00.23 download available

My box has updated to this firmware and now I've got problems when viewing BBC HD, STV, and some other channels - the box gives the 'No or bad signal' error on these channels. However, if you leave it on one of these channels, and then reboot the box, it'll show the channel fine. That is, until you change to another channel, at which point you can no longer view the problem channels again...

Anyone else experiencing this problem? I tried a factory reset but same result.

I would guard against doing this update as many people on the DS Forum are reporting channel losses.

Any way to downgrade? My box did the update automatically unfortunately. I've emailed Humax telling them about the problems...

I upgraded OTA this evening... having read this earlier... I flicked through the channels and all was OK. I noticed that CNN wasn't on the list... so I did a factory reset... And all is still fine. I tuned into CNN and P+ through the channels... all showed a picture (except off-air channels of course)... I stopped on BBC HD...

Which version were you on? I doubt if anyone is around this late to pull anything...

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HD firmware v1.00.23 download available

Just in case something got screwed up in the upgrade, I downloaded the files and did both updates via a USB pen drive, unfortunately with the same result. Amongst the channels that I can't view are certain regional BBC channels - however, again if I leave the box on one of these channels, and power it off and back on, I can view these and other 'problem' channels, until I change to a 'non-problem' channel, at which point I can't access the 'problem' channels again. I'm in the scottish region by the way.

All I wanted was to be able to record the buffer, a facility not provided by the upgrade. As things are, I'm unable to understand all the excitement

Thats odd because thats what my system is telling me, software version HPRSFCI 1.00.11

go figure cos the update date also says 25 Oct 2009 and I did it earlier this eve too?

Things have definitely changed because I now have the 'new' sign on the main folder page on media instead of just inside the folders, also signal strength n quality meters are higher than I've ever seen b4, both at 90% each, never noticed them that strong b4.

also got the lock/protect etc stuff too, so its deff updated to a new version

Not sure says loader version U7.52 if that helps, I did get a software update notice a few weeks back but didn't pay much attention to it.

Think Wayne was just trying to prove a point that's all - the fact that the thread is for the HD box rather than the HDR box

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HD firmware v1.00.23 download available

Of course! I did not notice that either (probably because it was late), but v1.00.11 is the new firmware for the HDR, while v1.00.23 is new for the HD.

I tried Sports Multiscreen (BBCi) this morning from BBC News channel - it works for me.

I wonder if there's any chance we'll ever get News Multiscreen now they've axed it off of Freeview?

It appears unlikely

The BBCi Team post on DS now and again... Everytime I read their posts, they seems to be working on this or that and have no time for anything else. It seems to me that there are only two of 'them' programming for every BBCi service you can imagine...

So highly unlikely, I would also agree...

I expect they are still getting severely whipped to get the iPlayer working!

My Foxsat HD box is also screwed after the 1.00.23 update, BBC1, ITV1, BBC HD and many others missing.

I too have managed to get some of them back yesterday by constantly retuning, but they've gone again this morning.

I'm on the phone to Humax support as I type, watch this space!!!!

I'm going to ask for a "downgrade" to V1.0015 :D

They haven't heard of the problem yet, they've promised to call me back.

Upgraded via USB (Imation 2Gb Memory Stick) with firmware available at Humax's uk website. All channels appear ok, just the loader version remained at 7.22.

I downloaded both, renamed the firmware one and ran the install twice. Do you think I need to delete the firmware one so there's just the 'loader' update in the root folder?

My box is still ok. Reading on the forums - seems like a 50/50 chance of your box being ok or not...

Best to call Humax support to see what they suggest doing if your box is missing channels...

A couple of week after the release date - from Currys - first generation...

I've just got a idea. I've not taken notes about what channels are missing but try powering off the box and disconnecting the LNB lead. Then reconnect and factory reset. Maybe the box needs a kick that way...

Worth a try... Seems like the other thread has a solution - downgrading to v15...

Except that auto update means that the firmware will be updated each morning at 2am* when then house keeping routines kicks in. So you will need to power the box of just before 2am* and keep it off for an hour or two...

*Could be 3am (not too sure exactly when)...

I checked my box today - it's also been upgraded as I forgot to switch off the box one night... Now I can't get some of the channels such as CBS Reality while I can receive them on another receiver...

I hear that Humax are working on an update... I hope they get it out soon The first update in a year and it messes up my box

I think they've (Humax Support) given the v15 firmware to people to downgrade if they have this problem... I think they also been given advice to not to let the box update OTA by turning it off during the housekeeping period in the early morning...

I'm not too sure. I need to find out whether anyone has let their box subsequently update after a downgrade to see if the problem of missing channels returns... (I guess if it does return then there's something wrong with the new firmware, rather than the issue date (or revision) of the box - as some people have suspected.)

I will be receving a Foxsat HDR tomorrow.

However, on reading throught these threads about automatic software upgrade V1.00.23 and the problems being experienced with it, it leaves me concerned about even installing it at the moment?

I then note that it would appear to be only affecting the HD versions and not the HDR versions which would appear to be on V.00.11?

Can somebody confirm this. If so is it safe for me to install the HDR version?

As a second point, I normaly power everthing off overnight. Will this cause any operational issues when it is stared up the next time?

I take it that if it is switched off overnight that I would not receive the automatic upgrades?

That being the case how you you get the upgrades?

However, on reading throught these threads about automatic software upgrade V1.00.23 and the problems being experienced with it, it leaves me concerned about even installing it at the moment?

You can't power off the hdr at night it has to run some housekeeping routines and will also pick up the OTA update if you don't manually get it using the menu option to check for new software

Don't worry in low power sby the hdr only uses 0.75W

There are a few oddities with V11 but nothing that you would not want to update from v03
