Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

HPRSFCI 1.00.11 download from HUMAX [UK]

Application: HPRSFCI 1.00.11

* Support for BBC iPlayer service (service availability to be confirmed by freesat please visit www.freesat.co.uk for information on the launch date of the service)
* Ability to Delete Recorded Programmes from the Media List while recording or playing back.
* Auto Delete function included (more info)
* Series folders will be removed when the last recording in the folder is removed.
* User created folders will be removed when the last recording in the folder is removed if the folder was created prior to the software update. User created folders after the update will not be removed.
* Resolved ITV HD Schedules disappearing after a freesat channel scan
* Freesat schedules no longer removed after a Manual Tune.
* RGB output available via the TV Scart connection on HD content (Live TV and Recordings)
* Resolved issues playing back encrypted HD content from an external device.
* Resolved issue with Subtitles appearing when use Time Shift Recording.
* Resolved issues with Series schedules failing to record.*
* You are now able to access the Guide while playing back a recording or viewing Live TV without the programme continuing to play.
* Diagnostic Menu now displays the signal levels for both tuners correctly.
* NEW icon now appears in the Media List (Simple view) on Folders with new recordings.
* Resolved Lip-Sync issue resetting after a power cycle.
* EPG Genre screen now appears in two columns
* Resolved incorrect character appearing on Postcode in the Diagnostic menu.
* Resolved lockup issue when recordings 2 TV channels and changing to a Radio channel.
* Resolved intermittent Lip-sync issue when accessing ITV-HD
* Changes made to some on screen messages regarding conflicts

* Due to the changes in the Foxsat-HDR software some users may experience schedule conflicts when scheduling recordings; this is due to the information being broadcast for some regional channels. Humax are working with freesat to have these issues resolved.

This software version does not allow users to edit Schedules that have been originally created via the Guide (i.e. it is not possible to change the start time, end time, or repeat mode of an EPG create schedule). This will result in an erroneous Date and Time.

It is still possible to create a new schedule via the Schedule list.

Loader U7.53
- Resolves issues during the Installation Wizard when using a DiSEqC switch.

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Cant get this to load.

I have a 4Gb sandisk stick, formatted to FAT32

With the Humy in standby, I put the stick in and press and hold the FP standby button. The FP displays BOOT. Then nothing else happens?

I have nothing else on the stick butFOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf

Help!

Do you have a smaller SD card you can try? Humax recommend no larger than 1GB.

I have used a 4Gb stick - it works. You should see the stick led flash (if it has one) indicating the stick is being read... (You need to let go of the power button once the HDR reads the stick.)

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

1G USB didn't work, 256mb did work. The loader part started and stopped very quickly with 'end' showing on the front panel.

The firmware took much longer and so I had released the standby button before the finish. This ended with 'success' showing on the TV and 'end' showing on the front panel.

Diagnostics page now shows:

Software Version HPRSFC1 1.00.11
Loader Version 7.53
Update Date 25 OCT 2009

I think the size of the stick it a red herring - it's whether the HDR works with that stick or not...

The actual firmware will take several programming cycles. The loader flash is the quick one.

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Update downloaded and applied (Software & Loader) box up and running.

I do have a problem though. When the box boots, it flashes up a USB device not recognised banner and it can't see my USB hard disk which I use to store films. The work around is to unplug the disk and plug it back in again after which it is recognised and works. Annoyingly, this has to be done every time the box is switched on from standby .

I got the software to load fine on a 2Gb stick.

But I can't get the Loader to update at all?? The stick flashes a few times then it just boots up normally with no updated Loader.

What am I missing? This is the file name FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade_U7_53.hdf

Ah, should I have BOTH files on the stick at the same time? I was doing them one at a time...

(0, Remove the FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf from the USB stick.)

1, Rename the loader file FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade_U7_53.hdf to FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf.

2, Proceed with the same flashing steps...

Change the file name to FOXSAT-HDR_upgrade.hdf, ie remove the "_U7_53" bit, but see my post above if you use a permanently connected USB disk.

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Am I missing something, but wasn't this supposed to be an over-the-air update?

Will it come over the air anyway if I don't do it myself with a USB device?

I believe it will come OTA this afternoon (this depends on the DTG)... Your box will not indicate anything until tomorrow - if left alone...

A manual software update check this afternoon will load the OTA update...

Ah good. I really couldn't be bothered faffing around with the stick method. These things never seem to go smoothly for me.

DTG site indicates that OTA updates are currently available.

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

In the list of updates what does: - "Resolved issues playing back encrypted HD content from an external device" mean???

How can you get encrypted HD content onto an external device in the first place??
You can't transfer BBC HD or ITV HD recorded from Freesat mode onto an external device can you??

Or is it that you could have recorded BBC or ITV HD in Non-Freesat mode and transfered it to a USB stick (or HDD) it would now playback ok as there was a problem before??

Most BBC HD now has a copy once option which means you can copy it to USB. Formerly to view this you had to copy it back to the internal HDD. You can now view it from the external drive, essentially meaning you have unlimited archiving . ITV HD so far has not allowed copy once and you can't record it in non-freesat because you can't tune ITV HD (It's not a proper channel)

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Thanks Graham,
I'm still getting used to the HDR (2 weeks old).
I delved a little into your ESata mod but I can't bring myself to open up the case until after warranty.
(I used to use a HD Freesat Tuner card in my PC and could archive what I wanted very easily)
The HDR is just so much simpler in many ways and playback of HD comes without any "complications" !!, but that HDD is gonna fill up quick, especially with Xmas on the way!!

Maybe I need to get a decent external HDD as a stop gap until the "SATA mod"

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

Okay, I checked for updates and got an Over the Air (OTA) update, - all went fine. Took about 10 mins.

Foxsat HDR box reports IP address assigned by router's DHCP. (before update this would just disappear)

I can now ping the box and get a response.

Now all I want to know is how to access iPlayer

Anyone know whether it is a red button option, or a channel option, without breaking NDA's of course

Rumours of how to do it are fine too

Noz

Re: Humax FOXSAT-HDR firmware update v1.00.11 download available

I updated OTA and expected the Loader to update to U7.53. However, it has stayed at U7.52. Now that the software is up to date, is there any benefit to updating the loader? Can it be done OTA? Im not sure how you can update the loader via USB if the software has already been updated.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

The loader will not be sent OTA. You need to download and manually install it. (And it can be done after the OTA firmware update.)

Notes for the Loader U7.53 says:
- Resolves issues during the Installation Wizard when using a DiSEqC switch.

Unless you are going to use a DiSEqC switch, you will probably not need the new loader...
