Re: Support the AV Forums

There used to be a handy accessible list of all avforum advertisers, which I can't seem to find anymore. Personally, I think you should have a very obvious link for this. Is there a link to access all the forums advertisers? If so, I can't find it!

Ahh, found it under "AV Hardware Retailers" within AV links within features. Not exactly obvious.

To my mind, if you are trying to promote forums advertisers this is far too hidden. Get it out onto the main top banner. List it as LINK TO OUR ADVERTISERS

No that's not a link of advertisers, those are just general links.

Okay, that's useful, but how about a "Link To Our Advertisers", or a "Visit Our Advertisers" on the top banner. I'm sure they would like that.

Regards,

T.

There used to be one , but Stuart disabled it ( as is his right , its his site afterall) , something to make it more difficult for advertisers to be pinched by competition , if I understood correctly .

Re: Support the AV Forums

Stuart, I tried to click on the Sonos (Plugged in tv) advert and nothing happens. I get a message saying Firefox has blocked a popup, but Avforums.com is on my allow list and so shouldn't be blocking it - any ideas ?
Edit - it's very strange, sometimes the ads work and sometimes they get blocked.

Re: Support the AV Forums

I think I've spotted the pattern now.
If I'm in a sub-forum and then click on the folder like structure links near the top of the page to go back to say the "Entertainment Computers & Components" forum, that's when it stops the ads from working.
So as I'm posting this I've opened up the Forum News & Notices forum from the link at the top and the ads stop working.

True, but replying to the voices in my head gets you funny looks.

Especially on the tube.

Back on topic (other than bumping it for Stuart to notice your feedback John), I'll try and make him aware of it also. Thanks for that

Re: Support the AV Forums

I don't understand how Firefox could correctly be blocking the forums with a 'popup' type message. I don't have any problems with the site at all or I would have reacted to them.
And I don't know how to reproduce the problem you are having. And unless I can, it's impossible for me to fix it.

Re: Support the AV Forums

I've tried it on 4 different computers using Firefox and it gets in a muddle every time if I click on the links at the top to get to a different forum. BUT it only seems to happen it I have www.avforums.com in my allow list for some strange reason !

Re: Support the AV Forums

John are you just blobking popups or all advertising?
Can you try allowing all advertising and see if that makes a difference?
