** How to report speed issues with the Forums ***

Hi Folks,
We want to know if the AV Forums are too slow.
If you experience persistant slowness with the forums, please send an email to our host with tracert information and the date and time of the slowness. A tracert tells out host if there is a problem with the 'pipe' going to the server.
How to do it in Windows:

Start / Programs / Accessories / Command prompt

A DOS window will open
Type in

tracert www.avforums.com

click and drag the mouse over the DOS window to highlight the tracert results. Right-click in the blue window border at the top and in the drop-down menu, select Edit > Copy.
Start an email to t.dunton@globalgold.co.uk with 'AV Forums slow' as the subject and put the cursor in the email body and hit CRTL+V to paste in the tracert results.
Also add the date and time at the bottom.

e.g.
------------------------------------
Tracing route to www.avforums.com [62.232.11.6]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 10 ms 9 ms 10 ms gsr01-hb.blueyonder.co.uk [62.30.193.65]
3 9 ms 9 ms 10 ms 172.18.14.53

Trace complete.

and send the email.
Thanks

Re: ** How to report speed issues with the Forums ***

Iv'e sent an email. And wanted to ask a question.

The last few days the forums have been very slow! And today it is the slowest, most of the pages wont even load!

Is it because some thing is going on with the forums?

Is everyone els getting the forums loading slow?

Help

Been slow and a bit flaky today with several timeouts. I notice that the number of users is very high at the moment so this is probably why.

Forums are the worst it's been for years this whole week! Regular white-outs, pages take forever to load, some pages only half-load.

I don't know why you bothered to put in a "caching server" - there was nothing wrong with the Forums before.

I have to agree. The past 3 days have been a nightmare. I`ve 2 different broadband lines at home with different providers, and both have the same results. Its taken me as long as 4 minutes to open a page at times today, or they just time out. No issues on other sites, just here

Slow!!! The last two days We have experienced Total lock ups lock outs.. And other problems

For example when i go to hit reply or want to start a new thread it has taken up to 3 to five minutes for the page to change. In my messages when i hit reply button also it takes 2 to 3 minutes to change three times the page has totally locked

Twice yesterday i could not even get into this site once in the morning once in the afternoon.

To be fair, Tim does a great job in keeping me (us ?) informed of what he is doing to fix the site, so rest assured its being worked on.
