EPL Players released/Free transfers

Well quite surprised at some of these that we're announced on sky sports but for those that aren't aware I've just listed the more well known players released by there clubs.

Almunia (arsenal)
Heskey (Aston Villa)
Cuellar (Aston Villa)
Drogba (Chelsea)
Kalou (Chelsea)
Bosingwa (Chelsea)
McFadden (Everton)
Murphy (Fulham)
A Johnson (Fulham)
Hargreaves (Man City)
Kuschak (spelling?) (Man Utd)
Owen (Man Utd)
C Gordon (Sunderland)
L King (Tottenham)
Shorey (West Brom)

Now I know drogba is leaving the prem and Ledley King has stated he wants to remain at spurs but there are some possible good purchases here for maybe some of the teams newly promoted or even those relegated or are currently in the championship.

I know there's more than my list but just grabbed the ones that caught my eye.

Can't believe Fulham have let Murphy leave myself! Some teams will get a few bargains this summer.
You haven't mentioned Rodagella (sp) and I can remember him being linked with a big money move a few years back!

There's talk that Essien has been released as well although I can't see that myself, anyone know if it's true.

Murphy could have done a job at Liverpool for a lot longer than he did, I didn't wanna see him leave and I'd be suprised if Fulham have let him go as he is their captain.

murphy stood out for me. i echo the sentiments above^ if a newly promoted side pick him up he'll be one of their star players.

kushyak (sp) is a decent keeper too!

He's under contract until 2015 so no, he has not been released. Wouldn't surprise me if he was sold as he is on a bumper deal and Chelsea may want him off the pay roll to allow more room for incoming players. Then again, if he can get an injury free pre season under his belt then perhaps he can regain some of his form and fitness.

I'm surprised at Craig Gordon being released. He is a quality keeper whenever I have watched him. His only problem is that he tends to pick up injuries like Kirkland used to.

I am not in the least surprised that Owen Hargreaves has been released for Free... Will be astounded if anyone signs him to play for them again.

I am also surprised that Keiron Dyer is not on that list, if he hasn't already thrown in the towel...

He signed a new 1 year deal with QPR about a month back - BBC Sport - Kieron Dyer signs new one-year contract with QPR

Danny Guthrie, Alan Smith and Peter Lovenkrands have all been released from Newcastle.

Their was an offer on the table for Guthrie but he knows his chances have been/would be limited so he rejected it - would have liked to have kept him as he's useful backup and we have more games this season with European football. Ultimately he decided to reject it as he wants to play on a weekly basis which is fair enough. He's long been linked with Villa but whether that comes off now they have a new manager I'm not sure.

Alan Smith - good riddance! Wouldn't like to calculate the total cost (waste) to the club he was! Will be lucky to get a premiership club.

I agree Guthrie is useful as backup.

Smith is past it now, ever since Fergie changed his position at United he was never the same player.
