Solskjaer no to Villa?

Ole says no to the villa job, guess things are no so rosy behind the scenes there?

quite right too. He has CL football at Molde next season, so I couldn't imagine him wanting to quit Molde before experiencing the fruits of his labour, especially to go to a club with next to no hope of achieving anything.

I dont know if he will be offered the position at Villa and neither does OGS, he had answered all questions exactly as you would expect someone in his position to.

I just cant see where this story has come from?

something along the lines of he has a 2 years contract left and he not looking for a new job...

more interesting was that one of Molde's billionaire backers has pulled out of funding that club after hearing that Ole had gone to Villa for talks, that's more likely the reason he's returned !!

Would you seriously expect him to say anything else? Like i said i have no idea whether he wants Villa or Villa wants OGS but Villa have made it clear that they have more people to speak to before any decision, unless he had a solid offer id fully expect him to answer every question as he has.

He certainly doesnt seem very popular at Molde and he was quick to get on randys jet for talks, just think ssn have jumped the gun a little.

Obviously all speculation at this point

I meant from the Hysteria caused by flying to Villa park for talks

Here is the 'story'

Manchester United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjær says at this stage he will not be taking the managerial position at Premier League strugglers Aston Villa. The Norwegian has guided Molde to the league title and after the midlands club sacked Alex McLeish, he was asked if he'd like to speak to the club.

Molde let him travel to England but wanted it to remain a secret. Of course that isn't what happened and it's made big news in Norway with the club being angry about developments. Molde even lost a long term sponsor yesterday as the hype reached silly heights.

In a TV interview today covered by Dagbladet, the Norwegian said he's staying at Molde for the rest of his two year contract but appeared angry and frustrated with the situation.

The former striker insisted that he had been given permission to speak to Aston Villa and was clearly unhappy with how things had developed in Norway. He was asked if he felt Molde still trusted him and replied 'Yes'.

Despite insisting he's staying, he also said he doesn't know if Villa will come back and talk to him again. When asked if he plans to talk to the Molde chairman he said asked the reporter if they required to know when he goes to the toilet.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær also said that he'd turned down several Premier League jobs and offers from teams in the Champions League, Molde are clearly desperate to keep him but it seems they may have pushed the manager too far.

.......

At this stage? At this stage he hasn't been offered the position

According to a journo on twitter he hasn't ruled himself out just hasn't had an offer so can't accept one. Think he would consider it if offered from what I read

Surely he wants to have a go at managing in the Champions League no chance of that if he moved to Villa

Lol.

I meant he's already in the Champions League at the current club he's at.

As for us and Villa I think we have a better chance although now you have got rid of McCleish you can move back up the league to where you rightly should be.

I was proved right that SSN jumped the gun on their original story, as for the second quote it was a hunch.

So in summary bite me ;0)

Solskjaer was willing to take the job, he just happened to encounter the wrath of Molde FC's bag man, Kjell Inge Rokke ( an oil industry billionaire who is one of the richest men in the country) for having the temerity to excercise his existing free premiership release clause to go to a nothing team, thus exiting a 3-5 development project that Rokke had begun funding for Molde. Rokke wants to basically repeat what Lyon did in France, establishing a base as a champions league club and using that platform to sell and ongoing series of players.

Solksjaer is not only a Molde native and the clubs best player ever, but he is also Norway's most famous and loved player of all time. At no point as he ever risking his popularity by moving - the fans were proud that a premiership team wanted him.

Rokke used anger and bribery to make Solskjaer stay. He promised in the end to fund Molde getting even better players and in return Solskjaer's exist clause now allows him to take a job with Man U anytime and any other premiership job only if compensation is paid.

But make no mistake, Solsjkaer did not reject Aston Villa until Rokke had agreed to fund him buying better players at Molde. He would have taken the Villa job otherwise.

Good to see some Villa fans on the forum...

Who do you think the next Villa manager will be? I've heard rumours of Lambert from Norwich but as ever nothings guaranteed until someone's signed on the dotted line!
