If that's the case, which I don't believe for a second, then there has been some serious shady dealings going on behind the backs of SCFC as he has not been given permission to speak to LFC at all. More media nonsense and rumour if you ask me.

I agree it sounds like media nonsense as I do not believe for one second Fenway would go behind Swansea's back to talk to him.

Yer wha

Rodgers has been in the frame for a while when approached initialy he didnt think he had a sniff of the job but in fact, they were impressed came highly reccomended.
Steve Clarke worked with Rodgers at Chelsea under Jose Pulis,Van Gaal who is our new Director of Football was Mourniho mentor so all in all makes sense.

Van Gaal is the only shining light out of this his CV speaks for itself, so we will see how he does, hopefully he is given a sizeable transfer budget signs some quality players and Rodgers can coach the team.
@LDR
As a Swansea fan i feel for you, but did you honestly feel realisticaly if offered the job he would turn it down????

I meant that I don't believe that we have already spoke to him without the agreement of Swanseas's chairman therefore the story is media speculation.

I must admit I'd prefer Rodgers to Martinez although a couple of colleagues at work disagree

I'm looking forward to this being sorted and moving on.

And so, after an extensive world wide search, the most decorated team in English football find their new manager ....... in Swansea.

Hey Mr Furious

I'm only jesting about Liverpool .... nothing negative about Swansea at all. You have been a breath of fresh air and you're right, you turned us over at the Liberty - it wasn't me crying by the way!

That was a big moment in the league (or so I thought) as United won on the same day and overtook us. I was gutted.

So, thanks for the kick up the pants and no offence.

No offence taken mate, and glad you won the league...

Just can't see rodgers taking the Job at Anfield at the moment..
If they are naming their new manager on friday no way has he had talks as we would know, swans trust members etc etc, one of the supporters is a board member , and the club run by people who care, not faceless money men..:roll eyes:
If he has and is to move on then so be it, good lucky to him, but 6 months down the road and a bad patch with LFC would be a lot different to a bad patch with Swansea.

That's a great point.

In my view, Rodgers has done brilliant in his first season but as others have found, the second season will be an even tougher challenge. Nobody will be surprised by Swansea anymore and staying in the league will be a big achievement.

It just surprises me thats all.

That's what us LFC fans have been saying all along.....we wanted someone established, experienced etc. We have the ideal candidate living in the city, but the owners seem to be ignoring him. The idea seems to be a complete overhaul of the structure within the club, so if Rodgers is brought in, it will be as a coach not as a manager...that is perhaps why they want someone younger and less experienced, someone who is willing to work within that structure and work with someone more experienced like Van Gaal. Only time will tell if its the right move...!

There's a great article posted over on the LFC forums that explains how he could be a very good fit if that is the structure the club want to adopt...I'll see if I can dig it out.

So Liverpool fans, if he is the man, are you happy with that, do you think he can get you champions league? bring titles back? win more than kenny did ?

Really not happy about this, a year to the day we won promotion to the premier league at Wembley and another manager walks out on us. Also looking likely that Gylfi Siggurdson will now not sign for the Swans after agreeing a club record transfer fee and personal terms with the player..

I prefer him to Martinez without a doubt.

He plays good football and Swansea were a joy to watch last season, so if he continues that at Liverpool i'll be happy to have him in charge.

I just hope that he is given time and isn't fired if he struggles.

There is a big job on at Anfield and someone needs to be given time.

If he gets top 4, he'll be fine. If he doesn't, he'll be fired. Simple.

Swansea played better football than most clubs last year, whether this was a flash in the pan, we will see. Can he get Liverpool to play the same way or will he play to their strengths...

The only people I think won't be giving time to him will be the fans imo.

Not convinced he's any better / worse than Martinez though.

Sigurdsson to Liverpool, Adam to Swansea anyone?...
