Just watched a rerun of the Derby from last night with Neville in the studio and have to say he was excellent both before, during and after the game, impartial and gave City credit where it was due.

Compare that with Niall Quinn's utterly nauseating commentary, which I couldn't hear last night and you wonder why SS pay such money for some of their experts. He was biased to a point and even though the actual rerun match was only about 20 mins, I felt like kicking him in the face. Why didn't they use a player who hadn't played for either club?

Quinn was absolutely disgusting. Bias throughout the whole game. Eugh. How someone like him gets such a big match. He was trending on twitter at the time. For all the wrong reasons.

Sky may have thought that with GN in the studio, they needed to balance it up in the commentary box. As if the viewing wasn't painful enough

My thoughts exactly.

Been a massive fan of Nev's work on Sky I must say. He just always seems to echo what I'm thinking and like the way he often speaks in 'fan terms'. Him and Smithy have been top notch

Can't stand Smith very very biased. Neville hasn't been but he may well have had he commented in that game.

Would have liked Wilkins to commentate.

Re Ray Wilkins, don't forget first class, top drawer and splendid.

Nial Quinn's performance was possibly the worst ever in the history of Sky Sports.

Red Nev has turned out to be an inspired signing for Sky, first class as Ray would say!

It appears he has now taken a job with England as part of Roy Hodgson's coaching staff.

He's also staying on with Sky according to the Mirror. Great news for everyone who likes good down to earth debate.

Bad news for Jamie Rednapp and Niall Quinn who will continue to talk crap.

As the thread title is about Gary Neville I would have thought that it was obvious.

does this mean he's not allowed to say what he honestly thinks of current england internationals anymore? not sure it would go down well with the FA if he did criticise someone.

conflict of interest?

I suppose it's just the bread and butter approach they signed him up for.

He wont be commentating on any Euro matches and the season is finished. I think he'll find it easy to draw the line between two different jobs. He will be allowed to say what he thinks of English international players but this time to their faces rather then in the glare of the media.

It was cringeworthy listening to Quinny being so biased towards City. We all know his loyalties but surely you can't be a commentator if you support one of the teams.

Bizarrely though, on New Year's Day when City played at Sunderland, everytime he said "we" he was referring to the Mackems.

I didn't like him as a player. Actually, disregard that. I HATED him as a player. He always came across as one of the most unsporting, dismissive and arrogant players of the past 15 years. Every time I saw him he was always confronting other players or opposing fans. Some would call it passion, I just disliked it intensely.

However, as a commentator he comes across really well, knowledgable, doesn't get too excited, knows when to shut up and when to speak. I like him as a commentator! I do notice, however, he's yet to commentate on a Liverpool match! I believe he's said more than once that he really hates the Scousers!

I enjoy Neville as a co comentator/pundit as he has interesting things to say (unlike Jamie Redknapp). What does annoy me though is the way he pronounces "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggghhhhhhhhh snul" instead of Arsenal

Redknapp is a complete waste of space in my opinion. He is there because of his looks, no question. He does not pass on any useful information, no analysis - he just always loves the team that wins and is critical of the team that loses.

Poor pundit, tight trousers.

Big test tonight; both on comment duty on the champions league final.

Watching now and Neville knows his stuff, more than Redknapp could ever dream of knowing/saying. I bet he couldn't even work that giant ipad

Let's see who he argues with tonight; ruud or Graeme?

Ditto. He is doing a very good job.

Redknapp is a bit too schoolboy aggressive and self conscious for my taste.

Another quality job from Neville. He has been Sky's best appointment for some years.

Funny at the comments from the Man U haters, who clearly even after someone has left the club still can't move on.

Yeah im struggling to see why he could cause anybody offence as a pundit. Seems inteligent and informative. Im a life long City fan but can differentiate between the player as was and the pundit as is.

Still no one is a patch on Martin Tyler, any game he is commentating on he seems to add that little more to it, its even to the point that i dont watch many games in 3D as the commentary team is usually dire, why cant we have a select audio option on the 3D channel
