Re: The Fifa 10 Thread - Show me goals and then more goals - Play and Help too i gues

From a quick couple of games last night I'm impressed with the weather and the effect it has on the pitch. I started an FA Cup and played on what can only be described as a bog of a pitch along with the rain. Ball difficult to dribble with through the mud, losing control quite easily.

Very impressed so far, a big improvement over 09 for me, even at this early stage.

oh by the way, one of the secret achievements is for starting a practice match - on the arena screen, press select, then choose the practice match option and you get 10g i reckon there might be one for customising a set-piece too

I had a game like that this morning too, also noticed that the players wearing short sleeved shirts had under armour stuff on underneath.

Can't wait to get home and play some more matches.

Another secret cheevo is for scoring 20 goals in the arena.

Re: The FIFA 10 thread - Show me goals and then more goals - Play & help too I guess

Got Fifa last night from Asda - around 200 people there - roughly 2 to 1 in favour of Xbox. They sold all 140 copies ! Much to the annoyance of the manager pointing out they were losing money on every sale plus the staff and organisation. 200 blokes go in queue up & dash home to play without buying anything else !

Feels quite different to the demo and online feels very different to 09 - I think lag is more noticeable given the smoother / quicker responses in Fifa 10.

I played 5 games last night - I lost connection in 2 and opponents lost connection in another 2 games. Only completed one game properly. I doubt they quit - I was leading but only 1 goal in it. I didn`t quit. This was from 1am-3am. Hopefully, it`s just initial teething problems with the servers. I don`t normally have a problem online. Be Unlimited 8mb and get very low pings - 10ms-20ms normally. I play quite a bit of PC sim racing without problems so pretty sure it`s not at my end - unless extra ports need to be opened from 09.

Cheers

You need to create an account on EA SPORTS Football World | The latest in Football Video Games and link your xbox gamertag to that.

The when playing a replay (making sure you are signed into the ea server when the game starts) you will have the option upload (the Y button)

According to Wikipedia you can download a commentary pack that includes Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend, but when I go to market place I can't see any mention of it, does this commentary pack exist and anyone know how to get it.

I've also seen a download for Live Season 2.0: All Leagues, does the game not come with this and anyone know how long this lasts if I buy it?

There are 6 or 7 leagues that Live Season 2.0 works with. They are 400 points each or you can buy them all for 800. These last for the entire 09/10 season.

No sign of the commentary pack you mention. The only ones in the FIFA shop are the foreign ones that aren't included on the disc.

The Bernabeu stadium is in the FIFA shop to download for free for anyone that hasn't spotted this

I think the commentary packs will become available in time (like they were for FIFA 09).

Regarding the Live season, I believe it costs 400pts for one league or 800pts for all six leagues (I would have thought, like 09, it would last just one real-time season).

EDIT: Too slow at typing!

FIFA10 advice.

Fodder's Fifa10 Advice... - Electronic Arts UK Community
Quote:
This is for people who have started to play Fifa 10 and have not noticed all that much change from Fifa 09 or who are struggling to get to grips with the new gameplay mechanics.

For me the game initially felt great, everything was improved, the controls give a real freedom, you learn that you have to play the game a different way to Fifa 09, you have to play more real football, as you learn to play real football you get better and feel even better about the new game.

After a while you get more comfortable with the new game and start taking more risks in your play making, longer balls, longer range shots, clever through balls and all that. At this point you're at risk of returning to your 09 playing style, I did.

As soon as you start to play like you did on 09 you stop feeling the improvements as much with Fifa 10. You start using the pressing button and chase people down and the frustration starts to get to you. The computer starts to do better against you and is exploiting the gaps in your defence because your running around chasing the ball. The game starts to feel scripted, downward spiral from here.

You take a step back, wait a minute, you were playing well and felt that Fifa 10 was a brilliant game, now what are you doing wrong. You have to think again about how you're playing football, you have to wipe all memory of Fifa 09, play football for the love of football, not because your trying to beat a game. Play the ball around midfield, don't sprint everywhere, stand off their attacker and don't let him pass, don't charge at every opportunity, play backwards if you have to to create space, hold the ball up and look for a runner instead of trying long through balls.

Fifa 10 is the game that you want it to be, if you let it be. The AI is much improved so at times you may feel hard done to, I do, when I've done everything I can for 85 minutes and then they score a 25 yarder out of nothing, grrrr, but that's football, I should have taken my chances earlier in the match and now I'm punished for not doing so.

As for momentum, yes I do feel that this plays a part but for both sides. Many a time I've struggled in a game but then decided to go for it in the last 10 minutes and have about 90% possesion for that 10 minutes and create chance after chance, corner after corner. Again, that's football.

Play the game because you enjoy beautiful football, not because you want to beat the game.

Sure, unless people think we need a separate one just for goals (I don't, but I don't mind either).

Nah we're good here i think. We'll probably set up the goal of the month thing again now once people get back into it.

That guy sums it up. You can set everything to easy and assisted if you want, fly onto ranked and play game after game as Madrid or Barca, and it's still a very good game.

Take the assists off, bump to World Class or play your friends, and just try and play however you feel like it, and it's a pretty stunning game.

Re: The FIFA 10 thread - Show me goals and then more goals - Play & help too I guess

Sound advice above, this guy from the EA forums is really onto something.

I played the Demo slow and cultured and passing it around realistically (not ping pong style) looking for gaps and the game just flourished, opened up and revealed itself to be new and a big change from 09.

Now last night I got back from ASDA and never started playing matches until about 2.30am, I'd been up since 7am and worked all day - so in my tired state, I was starting to do what he said above and out of my 6 games I drew 3 and lost 3 - Barcelona carved me open 4-1 as I was Madirid and did not defend properly, I felt I deserved to draw or be beaten though, not cheated by the AI - I hope this feeling continues.

After starting on "Pro" difficulty I finished up playing FIFA 09 on World Class and could win most of the time, I've only ever really played "Semi" shooting as I feel it gives a realistic ratio of scored and missed chances quite well.

I'm starting FIFA 10 on "Pro" setting as I want to go up the difficulties again and make the game last the year that I need it to. (some people on EA are saying Legendary is a doddle for them already - thats them bored of SP already ! )

Now I'll get to my point, I played "Pro" on the Demo and the CPU never used to be that ruthless at scoring but that difficulty setting has a nice amount of realistic pressure from the CPU on your players whereas when you go up to WC it's pressure all over the pitch.

I could swear I read on here that Rutter said they have tweaked "Pro" difficulty in the Retail game or Patch ? and I think they have for the better as the CPU were fairly deadly in front of goal at times last night especially Barca in that 4-1 defeat and Chelsea done me 2-0 as well ... anyone else noticed this change from the Demo ?

This game is so good at letting you play it how you want - for instance if you restrict your passing speed and don't start ping pong first time stuff and limit your use of the pressure buttons - you can basically alter and tweak the realism and difficulty on the fly for yourself.

Re: The FIFA 10 thread - Show me goals and then more goals - Play & help too I guess

I was always good at free kicks on FIFA 09 and seems I am not so bad in FIFA 10 either :D

I've only had a mess around but it works quite well, tricky to get them all to time there runs at the same time so far but sure we'll figure it out with practice. It's also imprtant to get your ball deliverd in at the right speed and trajectory or else it's useless.

It does seem quite deep and a decent worthwhile feature so far - which is good.

Only my 2nd ever Goal on FIFA 10 ... quite chuffed with it, not because it's a wonder goal or anything, purely because it's another reminder to me of the sort of Goal that I just could not have scored on FIFA 09 !

Even though I hammered the demo, I'm personally still enjoying all these new goals and animations and pieces of play that just were not possible a couple of weeks back when I played FIFA 09.

Basically what I'm saying is that I'm still in love with the new stuff and not taking the changes from 09 for granted yet ! (which will eventually happen )

For me it's also got that bit of realism as Pizarro fired in 2 Powerful headers last week in the Bundesliga and this looks like the sort of goal he would score IRL.
