Dear Everyone!

:lease: help! I am looking to buy a camcorder (never had one before) with which I can do two things. 1st want to make a film to present to a professional company to act as a start point and rough idea for an equestrian DVD. 2nd want to film clients' riding lessons and then hand them a disc at the end of it in exchange for lots of dosh!! Main problem not an electronics person at all (only can use computer to send emails and search the internet.) Boyfriend a bit better but nothing like film editing. Therefore what do we buy. Have looked at reviews and everyone slags Sony for rubbish accompanying software and help so have excluded them. Lots of friends recommend canon but which of the millions of types? We have about £400 but the main thing will be ease of use. Essentially something we can do basic editing by reading the hopefully clear instructions! The audio needs to be good as will definitely be outdoors all the time. Would be great if I could slow down the horses movement whilst replaying it immediately to show client but dont know whether thats possible.
If I understand the bumf Ive read, I can buy one that has a disc that I can just hand the client at the end of the lesson. Am I right and how much do the discs cost? I assume that its something like a mini DVD and just goes in their DVD player. Or am I being dumb? Think this is the HHD version. Whats the difference between that and the memory stick one and which one do I need?

Sorry to appear so dumb guys but we're talking about someone brought up on Betamax Videos!! Yes, Im really that old!

Right, just closed my wedding video business and looking to replace my two Sony FX1's & HC1 with a camcorder that the wife can use and is very simple to use.

As I have been used to MiniDV and different forms of tape stock, over the years I have amassed far to many DV tapes, now technology will permit us store & archive video on external hard drives that are reasonably priced, this now becomes a finacially viable alternative method to archiving material.

Not being used to the new formats HDD & AVCHD I was wondering if someone could reccomend, or point me in the way of a suitable 3ccd camcorder. :lease:

NEW GUY
I have had a Jvc Dv-700ek for some time barely used,

Camera driver seems to load - but when I plug the camera in
it asks to load driver again - but then states no better version available? then the camera/hardware still will not opperate?

1)using the usb port on the camera to usb on the pc.
2)using the dv i port out on the camera to the usb on the pc -I get device not recognised, when I do the technical supports properties check on the computer is states the the ports are all ok.

"I here using a firewire connection on the pc resolves some issues - this pc has no plug on the motherboard for fire wire adaptor( resulting in )no 1394 port on back , just soldier dots on the board." This camera worked on my old pc not using the firewire port on the computer -worked through a usb port!

My main concern is that the driver seems not compatable with xp and can not find a driver update on the jvc website - should be straight forward.

-"I know some one on here had similar problems a while back with this camera. I do not want to spend or through money away - this kit cost a lot new, and is only used to do short bits of footage for my website which is very rarely updated."

(whilst I appreciate there are newer better units out, this can do what I require)

This camera was used on my old pc running on windows 2000 or maybe something a bit newer. Now I have borrowed a spare pc because mine crashed - it's running on xp.

The camera was a really pain from new compared with other hardware and did not hook up well with the cables supplied-but I did eventually did get it working.

I think this is the first and last JVC i will ever buy - nothing else has ever been difficult to install and get working, even unbranded gadgets for analog to digital converting!

PLEASE HELP :lease:-direct links to solutions would be good, I'm nearly ready to give up,

need to get a bullet cam -cheap to mount on a car for same purpose - any recommendations?

Hi folks,

The wife and I have decided that this Christmas we're going to invest in a camcorder for the family. At the moment we have been borrowing my Dad's Panasonic DV camcorder but we thought since the prices are coming down, it might be time to buy a HD camcorder.

Our budget is fairly low (around £150 ish) so we're not expecting amazing results. We're fairly happy with the DV camcorder (apart from the lack of widescreen) but finding reasonable cost DV tapes is becoming a chore (not to mention transferring them to DVD!) and our TV is only capable of 720p.

I was originally looking at a Toshiba camcorder which Tescos had in for about £130 although looking at some sample videos, it appears the quality isn't that great (there were red streaks on the video in sunlight, and IIRC indoor video quality wasn't great).

So doing a bit more searching I found the Sanyo Xacti HD700 camcorder. The video clips I downloaded and watched on the TV looked great (not Bluray great, but good enough for my liking anyway!). However I've not been able to find the HD700 for sale at anything less than about £220 unless I order it from an eBay seller in Hong Kong.

Doing a bit more searching I found the Sanyo Xacti VPC-CG10BK which appears to be about £150 (or there abouts on Amazon.co.uk, eBuyer.com and Aria.co.uk). However I can't seem to find any sample videos to download. The nearest thing I have found is sample videos which have been uploaded to Youtube.

I just wondered if anyone knew where I could download sample videos (in the camera native format) which I can watch to check out the quality?

Ta,

Rob

I now need to transfer this onto DVD

I went and bought a DVD burner (mondel no CU-VD40) and managed to transfer to DVD

I can play the DVD back on TV using HDMI cable connected directly from the burner to the TV

However when i try and play the DVD in laptops, it's not coming up with anything...

Please Please can anyone help me?
Thanks
