I recently got an H/K AVR 255 and also got Tangent Evo's for my rears so about time i upgraded.

My budget would hopefully be £600 but even then that might be pushing it so £400 to 500 would be fine also but if i am going to see a great increase in quality for the extra £100 i can prolly push it.

Whats my best option up to £600?

Used everyday for music, gaming, hi def tv and video in a small tv/av room.
Also will i notice that much of an increase in quality going from a £200 set of floorstanders to a set at £600?

I am also needing a new centre speaker as the Eltax symphony was only £15 and i am sure something that costs a bit more will be better. Was thinking on the Tangent Evo centre but suppose i could go with anything up to £100 and maybe slightly more

How is everyone? I was just looking for some advice really.
I have a JVC THA-35 home cinema dvd player thing and its connect to my XBOX 360 via optcial input.
The other day there was a loud "click" and now the sub does not work at all.
all other 5 speakers work fine but films and games are not the same without bass :(.
Would I be able to plug in any subwoofer in to it or do I need to buy a hole new system? I am rather fond of my JVC you see!

soon i'll be investing in a yamaha RX-V565or denon AVR-1610, so dont want insult it by connected old crappy speakers.

problem is that my budget is about 500 on the whole kit, so 300 on the new amp, leaves me with around 200 on speakers.

option 1
keep existing until i can splash a bit more out?

option 2
buy something for the 200 budget and live with it. NSP280, TANNOY SFX5.1, ONKYO SKSHT528?

option 3
i may be able to get my hands on a old REL Q50 sub, then possibly buy some reasonable floorstands and satellites? as i do like my music too.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if its ok to use a pair of RCF Monitor 8's pa speakers 300 watt pch, on a 150 watt pioneer sa-420 hi-fi amp.

I know that i should be using a 450 watt pch pa amp, but i simply cant afford one at the mo.

I will be using the Pioneer at about quater volume (9 o'clock)

Will this cripple my lovely RCF's or even the amp?

Anyone know how long the current GS60 speakers been out for? They're the ones I'm looking into, for use in a new stereo system, not for surround-sound..

I am soon to take delivery of a new HP TouchSmart 600 1050uk PC.
I plan to use it in a media centre set-up as it includes a blu-ray player, integrated DVB-T card and obviously TV streaming/youtube/music as you would expect from a standard Windows PC but through a 23" HD touch screen.

Now for my question!

As I plan to watch films and TV on this PC I want to get a decent sound system to hook up rather than use the stereo sound from the built in speakers. In the spec for the PC it says "High Definition Audio 5.1 (via digital output)". Does this mean I can purchase a set of surround sound speakers and hook them up to the PC (not PC speakers if you know what I mean?) using an optical cable?

Also, will everything that is played on the PC come through all the speakers if I use an optical connection? Obviously not in true 5.1 all the time (e.g. when not watching blu-ray) but will mp3’s for example play through all 5 speakers?

I assume I wouldn't need an amplifier for this kind of set up?

I am looking to spend around £300 and if what I propose above will work can anyone recommend a good setup at that price? Also if possible I'd like the rear speakers to be wireless.

I hope that all makes sense and I’ve managed to explain myself properly?

After much, much deliberation I have whittled my speaker choice down to these 2. I was going to get the XTZ 93's but am gutted by the fact they are just too big for my bookshelves.

What would you go for out of the above, especially given that they are going to be bookshelf mounted and not stand mounted in a large room?

Need an answer quick as someone has offered me some brand new IQ30's for 200 quid just as I was about to order the 10.2's!!!

What should I get (I listen to ALL types of music but do like it powerful!!)

I'm looking to use them in a stereo, not a surround-sound setup..

Already had a couple suggestions, but have you got any recommended amps to demo with these puppies?
