Got myself a Laptop with Windows installed and configured my XBox as an extender for Media Centre. All my libraries have set and configured fine but the actual media centre picture/interface doesn't look right on my TV.

Ive had this feature set up before when I had an old desktop with Windows media centre edition as an OS and that was fantastic. The picture was crisp and vibrant, on this new laptop with Windows 7 the media centre through my TV appears like a PC running through a large screen TV set to the wrong resolution. I Haven't changed the TV since I last had this set up and it looked fine so I'm confused? Help:lease:

Hi all, I think this is a bit of a wierd problem. Whenever I launch sky player, and try to watch anything on demand, the advert that usually pops up at the beginning plays and sounds fine, but as soon as the pogramme starts the audio to the whole console disappears, not just within sky player. Even after backing out of sky player the audio wil not come back on in any games, dash etc until I reset the console. I have tried this many times and always trying to watch anything on sky player on demand kills the audio completely until I reset. I can't try live TV as I don't have multiroom, but all of the demo channels they give you seem to work fine.

I'm running an elite through HDMI into an LG37LF65, but I don't think it's anything to do with my setup. Any advice would be great!

Edit: sorry for the typo in the title; should be kills MY xbox

Hi all, I've been an owner of an Xbox 360 since launch. After the "optional media update" it played all different types of video formats either from a USB memstick or home-made dvd-r without any problems. Then last month my trusty launch xbox died and I ended up buying a new Elite. Luckily, I had all my profile and game saves on an official microsoft memory stick (which I bought cheap when I was in America). The reason being, one time for some reason the original 360 hard drive went nuts and needed reformatting- so I got the memstick in case it ever happened again- I didn't fancy losing all my saves etc. Anyway- when I plugged in the Elite, I simply used the memstick to carry over my profile and saves and also a few trial arcade games. For some reason, the trial arcade games refuse to be played unless I'm connected to Xbox Live, which is a hassle as I have to connect via an ethernet cable from a homeplug (which means a lot of faffing around). Then I tried playing a few videos from a dvd. Some of the files play no problem, but others requested the downloading of the "optional media update" No problem, I thought, connected to Live and downloaded the update and the files played no problem. Then I tried again when the 360 wasn't connected to Live and it still says it won't play certain file types unless I download the update, which I already did. I've tried having the update on both the hard-drive and the memstick, but these files just will not play unless I'm connected to Live.
Anyone got any idea what is going on? I neveer used to have this problem.

I have no Firewall software running.
I remember on Vista you had to have Media Center but that doesn't appear to be the case with Windows 7.
I've run out of ideas now, so any suggestions gratefully received! :(

Hi guys, I hope you can help.

I've bought a 1Tb external USB harddrive and I'm about to undertake the task of getting all my CDs onto the ext HD.

I've settled on using iTunes and encoding my albums to AAC (MP4audio) 192kbps kr 256kbps vbr, I think AAC gives better quality to file size, etc.

Anyway, the xbox plays AAC/mp4a just fine and it sounds great, however I noticed in the 'Now Playing' display on the media player that only the Song Title is given, and it has '.mp4a' tagged on the end?

For example, I tested using Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' album.

I can browse fine by artist , find Radiohead, then In Rainbows is there fine, no problems. But when you open album to look at the songs, they all have 'mp4a' lumped on the end.

Then when you play the track, as said it just says 'Reckoner.mp4a' ughhh! And artist and other info fields are blank)

i check mp3 stuff and it plays and shows all theinfo fine.

I dunno if this is a format issue (mp3 storing more file info or perhaps can be read more easily by the xbox, than aac files?) and perhaps it's even of more relevance to ask this in an iTunes/audio file format type forum, but I'm just interested if anyone else has saw this before and if there's anyway of getting round it?

I find it annoying enough that thexbox doesn't display album artwork when you've got tunes on shuffle, but if it only gives you the song title with.mp4a messily stuck on the end, and no artist info then I'd hate that!!! :(

I've not looked at the albums in iTunes to maybe add the info manually there and see if that makes a difference, but I'm surprised that if you are navigatingto a particular track through folders called 'Radiohead' then 'In Rainbows' and then the song, the xbox doesn't appear to associate these with the album and artist info when playing?

I really hope someone can help or even throw in some suggestions-I want to get started ripping my CDs and would rather do it in aac than mp3.

Greg

I have a PC that has WMP 11 installed on it. I have another file server on my network (another computer that has a large hard drive that I store all of my media on). I have my folders setup in WMP 11 to share out not only local folders, but also the mapped drives that contain the media from my file server. I have played around with this ALOT and have only gotten the local folders to stream to the xbox. The files/folders on the file server (even though they show and play fine locally within WMP) do not appear or play on the XBOX.

Can anyone provide some thoughts or direct me to a thread that may contain the solution?

This is very frustrating so any advice would be much appreciated.
