i'm in Aus

deciding between a couple of 32" lcds (will be used as a PC monitor 80% of the time (inc PC gaming), rest will be between watching TV and PS3 gaming)

models i'm tossing up between are

Sony 32" KDL32W5500 (around 1100aud)
Samsung 32" LA32B550 (around 950aud)

sony has 100hz but panel is rated at 8ms (also has widgets+ lower power consumption)
the samsung is 50hz but panel is at 4/5ms (depending on where i look)
(i like the styling more)

i currently have the samsung LA32R71BDX in my room and its been a great screen (4+ yrs i've had it for)

Anyway, dad seems set on getting a Sony, probably the Sony KDL32W5810 as it has built in Freesat (£745 online). Personally I think he's better to go for the Sony KDL37W5500 from Amazon for £100 cheaper and a free TV stand but no built in Freesat (has Freeview though).

What do you guys think? I've currently got a 22" LG TV sat next to my monitor that I use to watch TV shows on; either through the TV or over DivX stuff, but figure it could be worth an upgrade so that I can plug my Xbox 360 in and play on a screen a bit better than what I have now! :smashin:

Just wondering what TV people would recommend? Preferably something as low profile as possible (it's going on my desk so I don't want something huge or heavy) and not massively expensive if at all possible - so maybe something from Samsung?

I have been reading and reading and this forum has a S&^T load of info. I am looking to buy a LCD tv in the boxing day sale and I can make up my mind of what to buy. Money is a factor in all this.

I have been looking at the big name LG, Sharp, Samsung, Sony and they all seem to be around the same price. I will be using the tv to mainly use with a PS3 for BD and downloaded content at 1080p. I was doing research regarding the difference between 60hz and 120hz. Yes bigger is better (sometimes) but looking at BD players it seem that they only output at 60hz. (sony players)

Is there a real difference between the two or is it just BS? Link, opinions, reports, reviews, etc would be appreciated.

I have been looking into buying a 26” LCD TV for my 12 year old sons Christmas present in order he can play his xbox 360 in HD.

Whilst the TV needn’t be a top of the range jobby, I was hoping to get a half decent set for around the £200 mark. I have since found out that you can’t get a 26” for under £200 nor a decent one i.e Samsung/LG for much less than £300!

As I have already bought him an xbox 360 I don’t want to go mad on blowing too much money but at the moment he only has a 14” CRT. So needs something better.

I have narrowed down some cheap and cheerful LCD’s as follows:

Argos Alba 26880HDF at £229
Argos Alba (no ref) at £250
Argos Bush A626 at £250
Amazon Hanspree xv-s ST251MAB full 1080p 25inch at £250
Comet Goodmans 26 inch (cant find it on site at the mo) at £250

Obviously money is a factor here but not to a point where for an extra £25-£50 means I don’t end up with a right pup…….but at the same time I think any HD TV would be better than what he has at the moment.

Any advice on what’s the best budget TV out of the above would be really appreciated or should I go for the sammy/LG at £280 bearing in mind the kid has done really well at school..lol
