In the past I have been using Zoom player, but because of some glitches I uninstalled it and replaced it with Media Player Classic.
During the installation it asked me to uninstall the video codecs in my pc to prevent conflicts with MPC (true or not I don't know) so I did.
All the video files that I've been playing since then have worked perfectly. The only problem is that I now want to edit some video, something easy and simple without any frills, just take some parts of a movie out. To do this I used MS moviemaker but I was not able to do so because it told me that the codecs to process that video files are missing.
Is there a video editing soft, perhaps freeware, out there which includes video codecs? Or do I need to re-install the video codecs to edit video, and will this not mess up my system?

So I am using my PC which since a rogue dialler attack on mty old PC some 7 years ago when I was still on Dial-up I have had no intrusions even posted by my defence mechanisms oter tan tracking cookies and dataminers

However on Tuesday ( I just got my PC back and up and sort of running!) I got the following sequence of events :-

1 Googled "Martin Lewis"

2 Got moneysavingexpert.com as first choice. Clicked on this and ....

If apparent website opens. Java console opens. ( I close it), Java console reopens, Balloon warning "firewall has been switched off your computer may be at risk", Adaware and Sybot S&D start throwing up all sorts of messages. AVG throws up several invasions mostly trojans. This all happened within seconds such that I could not respond. I then dealt with the Adaware and Spybot issues and then with the AVG report.

The AVG report suggested a re-start to fully implement. And then the system died requesting a Windows repair

So I took it to the local Dr PC.On start up on returnall looked well but then after re-installing AVG and somehow getting an internet connecion then 26 "updates" that took around 30 mins to install.

My big question is however "How is it that I received this attack when accessing a kosher web site and how is that the firewall can be turned off by the intruder."

So here I am - any comments gratefully received but I still have a system that now takes some 5 ( vs instant) minutes to connect to a high speed BB connection.

Furthermore my graphics card is refusing now to support anything above 1680x1050 rather than the displays native 1920 *1080 it was offering earler?

This is my first post in this section of the forum.

I have a folder which has 800 digital photgraphs in. These have been copied onto a memory card so the photographs can be viewed on a digital photo frame.

I believe the photo frame reads the files from the card in the order of the actual file name. Unfortunately this does not correspond with the order the photographs were taken in and that's the order I want the digital photo frame to display the photgraphs in.

I have tried to get around this as follows. I have organised the photographs in order of date taken. I have then highlighted all the photographs in the folder and renamed the first one digiphoto.jpg

The subsequent files were all renamed digiphoto(001).jpg, digiphoto(002).jpg, digiphoto(003).jpg, digiphoto(004).jpg....... and so on. I thought I'd cracked it.

But no. Both windows xp and the digi photo frame do not recognise the numbers so when organising the files by file name the sequence is something like 001, 010, 011, 012, 013...... etc. it puts anything that has a 1 at the start of the sequence of numbers in front of anything that has a 2, so file 002 doesn't appear until well down the list, when really it should be second!!

Can anyone suggest a solution to get around this?

Many thanks
