Hi,
Does anyone know of any problems with the 607 and sky hd? I have the sky connected to amp and then to plasma but every so often the screen goes blank with the no signal received displayed although I have sound; turning the receiver off and on resolves this but its not ideal. The receiver is 7 days old and I have contacted the supplier outlining the problems I am having and they have asked that I keep them informed. I will try connecting direct to plasma and see if there are any issues there, if there are no problems with this set up do I contact the seller informing that the receiver is either faulty or not compatible with my other devices and should I expect a refund
Regards,

Hello

I have a few weird things happening recently I cant really pinpoint the cause. I can only assume it may be the amp.

1) At least once a week skyhd box blue screens, either loss of signal when it is turned on or just a frozen blue screen. Either one and sky hd needs to be plugged out and back in to get it to work. Also now and again the screen has just turned black while watching a show as i the hdmi has lost the signal.

2) Intermittant problem with HTPC. Whenever i leave the pc on and switch to another device, ie skyhd, sometimes when i switch back to watch the HTPC sometimes I cannot get the picture back and just black screens as i a loss o HDMI signal. If I reboot the pc it comes back on but the resolution has then gone back to basic settings and needs to be changed again. Sometimes when switching back to the HTPC after watching SKYHD the pc crashes and the display seems to have corrupted like a graphic card problem. This happens no matter what version of the ATI Catalyst driver I have.

The reason I think it may be the amp is that both these devices with problems are HDMI and it always happens when turning on the deviced or switching from one to the other. The amp is about 1 year ols. The display I am using is a Pioneer LX5090.

I had to send away my old Onkyo 674 amp to have a new hdmi board in due to a different problem. Could there be something wrong with the HDMI board in this amp or am I barking up the wrong tree?

All thoughts appreciated :)

i can just then use one optical lead from the optical out put rather than having to swap leads around etc.

i assume that any sound passing out of the optical output will be the same as whats gone in - ie dolby digital from the xbox into the amp and then dolby digital out through the optical output etc

I have an Onkyo 606 amp hooked up to a rather old 37" LG LCD TV via HDMI. Recently, the screen starts to display a lot of static and then goes blank. It usually comes back in a few minutes, but was gone for a couple of hours last weekend. It somehow fixed itself after I hooked the component output of the amp to the TV (still viewing via HDMI). However, the problem has come back today. Very unsure if this is an amp or tv problem. Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Hi I am newish to the world of AV Receivers so this may be an easy question to answer.

I have just purchased an OnkyoTXSR607 and done all the initial setup.

I have plugged in my PS3 via HDMI and then played The Dark Knight on Blu-ray. I have changed the soundtrack to Dolby True HD and when I hit the display button is does say it is playing the True HD format.

When I look on my AV Receiver though it doesn't display as HD. I have tried this for a DTS Master Audio and again the PS3 shows as playing the correct format but the receiver is still not showing any difference on the display.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated as having spent £2100 on a new TV and surround I want to know I am getting the best possible sound quality.

Cheers

I have an Onkyo 605 with HDMI out to an Optoma HD700x projector. SkyHD, PS3, Xbox360 and Wii all connect via HDMI and component, everything works perfectly.

I have an N64 and want to connect this up. I purchased a cable like this (clicky). I have tried connecting this to the AUX input on the front of the Onkyo, selecting AUX and nothing comes up at all - no Video or Audio.

I don't have an old TV to test it on, but I have no reason to believe the N64 is broken.

Any ideas what I may be missing? I have also tried connecting it to the "DVD" inputs on the back, but this doesn't work either.

Thanks

The problem is, I do not get full screen display from my computer. There is a 1 inch edge at the corners of my TV when I use my HTPC no matter which resolution I use for my PC. So I assume that the problem is with the AV receiver. I have tried setting the HDMI settings to 'through' and '1080i', but the problem still exists.

I hope someone here in this forum can solve my problem, since I am quite a beginner in setting up a home theatre system.

Thanks and have a nice day.
