i currently have an epson dx4000 my daughter bought and she is not happy i put cheap ink in and it is now knackered

so will putting good stuff back in it fix it or have i ruined the heads?

what am i doing wrong?

or what printer is cheap to run using oem?

ps we dont use it for photos just letters and course work

My Printer (an Epson Photo Stylus 890 ) has finally expired !! so I am now in the hunt for a new All in One Printer...but WHICH makes are Best ?? .. the million dollar Q ?

Having checked out other threads on here I see Canon get rated highly especially the Pixma 620 or 640, Argos have a deal on the 620 but no stocks near me at present, also considered Epson ( SX 415) maybe, and Lexmark.

My Budget really is up to £100 and it would be used for basic printing and Photos and I believe the higher the dpi Resolution the better which seems to be Canon.

So any advice / recommedations grately received .

I bought a Pixma IP4500 a few months ago now, and used it once when I got it, and it has been sitting doin nothing until I built my small office, I tried printing something last night, and it feed the paper in, and sounds like the printhead is moving over to the paper, then all of a sudden stops and makes a jamming noise. So I tried some troubleshooting things with the software, and it was able to print out the test pages fine, so thought that must have fixed it, but then again it done the same thing when I went to print my pic. Very strange, anyone had this prob before? Or anyone know what could be happening?

Photo Printing up to A4 (10*8) - with " Good" print quality and colour matching. Should also be able to do standard printing, plain paper letters, newsletters etc.

Nice to haves include
Individual ink tanks (she's not interested in CISS)
Scanner capability.

And then if at all possible available from Tesco so she can use up her clubcard points! (OK - *I* know this is stretching it a bit but you never know....

She wants "good" rather than "excellent".

I am looking for a way to connect my sony dcr-hc51e camcorder to my laptop so I can transfer the video footage to DVD. I have an advent 9315 laptop.
I have been told I need a firewire connection but there doesn't seem to be one on my laptop. I don't think there's a pcmcia/cardbus slot either. Does anyone know if there's anyway I can get some kind of firewire adapter I can connect to a usb 2 port or anywhere else that might work?

It's for a home office which is situated in a walkthrough room and is why I would put looks, size and it ideally being black high on the list.

Tried to install downloaded drivers for my rx700 all in one printer on my new Sony Vaio VGN-AW41MF laptop which runs Windows 7 64 bit. I know I have the correct files as I was chatting to an epson tech support guy online as the page for downloading wouldn't display. he sent me direct links to the files needed and made sure I was running the 64 bit version of the OS. He also said these files contained both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the drivers. Once downloaded, when I tried to install them a window popped up informing me that the file was not a valid win32 application. Had blue screen, reinstalled Windows xp pro. (Gen. Disc)
Before blue screen everything worked well,not now!
When I try to open my pix to copy to cd disc I get the
"not valid win32 application" message and will not open.
Printing to A4 etc still works well but not to disc.
I have saved the pix in all manner of formats but still will not open.
Do I need to alter any settings in either my PC or Printer?

Have a few questions which I was hoping to get some help with:

Printer

After a bit of research I am leaning towards printable DVD’s rather than Lightscribe technology. The two printers that come to mind are:

Epson P50 (£84.99)
Canon Pixma iP4700 (£77.93)

I’m currently leaning towards the Canon solely on the basis that compatible cartridges seem to be more readily available than the Epson.

Can anyone advise whether the Canon is a good choice or whether there is another printer I should also be taking into contention?

Blank DVD Disks

I have come across a number of articles that recommend using DVD+R disks over the –R variant. Furthermore most articles recommend the use of Taiyo Yuden disks. A quick search for Taiyo Yuden printable DVD disks bought up the Watershield DVD’s as the best type but as far as I can see these are only available in DVD-R format.

My question is whether the improved quality of printing on Taiyo Yuden Watershield DVD-R disks is at the expense of whatever the benefits of DVD+R may be? What exactly would I be losing out on by choosing DVD-R over DVD+R (longevity etc)?

Finally could someone kindly recommend the best place to buy genuine Taiyo Yuden disks with the best possible dye?
