i've just purchased a dell inspiron 545 and am now waiting on delivery. i want to upgrade the dvd drive in the machine to blu ray. what i'd like to know is what type of internal drive i should go for? i'm looking at a good entry level price machine for now just to get me up and running. theres so many to choose; its knowing what to go for?

also; do i need one that burns? can i replace the supplied drive for a blu ray that can burn standard mp3s/dvds/cds (as this is what i'll be doing with it most of the time) or can you get a drive that actually burns the lot including blu ray movies? is it possible to burn blu ray movies to disc which such quality?

sorry to be a noob... just trying to understand the whole pc blu ray picture?

Mispriced at Amazon for Verb 5 pack of 50gb bd-r at £11.99, unfortunately its now gone back up to £52.50 per pack but i'm well chuffed I got a few packs at this absolute steal of a price.

I put in a HD disc in it today and the drive read sit but when I try to play it through TMT3 it doesn't play.
I though tit was a driver issue but spending hours trying to fix it I could not find a up-to-date driver and I also managed to rename the drive to just CD/DVD Rom in device manager where it used to say Toshiba D-H802A.

Any idea show I can reinstall the drive?
Any ideas where I can get the latest driver?

Ive physically installed a DVD RW, Sony 7191a but my pc isnt recognising it as an added bit of hardware.

Ive searched google and the most successful way Ive found is to delete upper and lower filters in a process which starts off by running 'regedit'.

When Im in the hardware profile, there is no dvd icon.

The power works fine, the tray opens and closes but not DVD RW is being picked up.

I am running xp.

What can I do so that the pc recognises the dvd rw?

Also, there are no other hardware connected to the same cable.

it will play a normal dvd fine, will write to a blu ray also but it just will not play this film,

sometimes when i switch the pc on anydvd will pop up telling me no drive is even installed lol

so is it just the disc thats faulty or is there something more sinister here ?
