Hi Everyone
I have a situation that I hope someone may be able to help me with.
So here’s the history....

I have a Samsung HT-710 Home Cinema System that was set up by someone else. It was connected to TV and Virgin box. Everything worked as it should with minimum fuss.

I had a Samsung LE37B551A 37” LCD TV delivered Wednesday and I paid for it to be set up (no ‘someone else’ around to do it just now!!) I was told that the set up could not be completed as I was upgrading my Virgin box to a Virgin+ HD box, but it wasn’t arriving until the Saturday.
The Virgin guy came and installed the V+ box, connected everything up and it all seemed to be just hunky-dory.
However, each time I switch on the TV and Home Cinema I now have to play the ‘Remote Control Dance’!!
1. Switch on TV with TV remote
2. Switch on HC with HC remote
3. The TV comes on on HDMI 2 source
4. The HC comes on on Aux2
5. Suddenly the HC switches back to trying to load a DVD; the TV switches source from HDMI2 to TV and a window pops up telling me that Anynet+ is disconnecting (?)
6. Change the HC to Aux2 with the HC remote
7. Change the TV source to HDMI 2 with TV remote
8. Use Virgin remote to change TV channels
9. Use HC remote to alter volume
10 Flop exhausted onto sofa with large glass of wine and all 3 remotes close at hand!!

:lease: So my questions are:
1. Can I reduce the number of remotes I use and how would I do this?
2. Can I stop the HC changing back from Aux 2 to trying to load a DVD by itself each time I switch it on (it never used to do this)?
3. Can I stop the TV swapping sources from HDMI 2 to TV each time I switch it on?

Thank you for taking the time to read all this and I’m sure you’ve already gathered that technology is not my thing!! :)

Hi Guys

I've been a discreet browser on these forums for over a year now and thought it was about time i actually signed up!

Ok here is my plan:

I have:

Samsung 42" 1080p LCD TV
Virgin+ HD
Playstation 3 (Which will not always be in the set up)
Nintendo Wii

The TV brackets have been fitted for the TV to be mounted but we have not yet finished decoration so this is the perfect time for me to channel wires and cables into the wall

I'm interested in buying a Home Cinema System for around the £160 mark. I need to know whats the best one for me to buy and all the correct leads i need to be able to hook all of this up.

I have a pal at work who said connect it all up to the home cinema system (through HDMI except the wii which will have to be scart) and then from the cinema system straight to the TV via HDMI. I didn't like the idea of this as i like to have different settings on my TV for PS3 then Virgin+, for example i like to use the preset 'game mode' for playing games but i like to use the movie 'mode' when watching Virgin+.

I appreciate any help i can get!

Thanks
Rob

hi guys

i have a cambridge audio A1 Mk3 amp (yeah, i know old & crappy! but it still makes a noise and am saving up for that proper new AV reciever as we speak!!)

anyway - back to my problem. i had this setup so that i never needed to get up and manually switch the "Source" dial to the appropriate source when changing between AV and HDMI sources on my TV (all devices' audio is routed to the amp via stereo cable). i had the following plugged in:
Humax FOXSAT-HDR
Nintendo Wii
AppleTV
Samsung TV

i had issues with the Humax box though, so got rid and replaced it with an HTPC (Ubuntu running XBMC & MythTV). however, now i have to flick the dial whenever i change source.

does anyone know why this may be happening? is there a way i could get it working as it did before switching that 1 appliance, i.e. by cabling in a different order?

regards
When I bring up on screen menu for BD60 for play Viera You-Tube etc the output on screen is truncated.
I have tried various screen settings on both the projector and the player but this does not fix image cuts along the edges.
Changing standard menu level image settings (like 16:9, V-Fit, H-Fit, Zoom etc) or lens of projector justs makes images smaller or larger or strectch but the truncation remains.

What i'm looking for is the simplest / small footprint method to get sound when displaying video from a HDMI source on a PC monitor.

More info: Basically i have 3 HDMI devices (PC, Xbox360, PS3) and 3 displays (2 x TV, 1 x PC monitor). With a matrix type HDMI switch i can pick what input is going to which output except no audio at the PC if the source is one of the other devices.

I know i can get a HDMI splitter and connect to a receiver but i don't want to add clutter to the system so some type of small device would be preferred. Something you could plug HDMI into that would output a stereo analog signal would be optimal for my needs but i have not come across anything like that.

Thanks for any info you can share,
Right, i have just purchased a blu ray player(sony bdp-s360) and i was wondering which is the best way to connect it to my hc (samsung HT-X200), im unsure to be honest how to connect them at all, so any advice would be great, my hc has 1 x hdmi out, 1x optical out, 2 x aux in, component video output and video output jack, its a 2.1 system and not too old, im unsure about the bluray connections as getting it tomorrow, Is it possible to connect the two together? my tv is a samsung lcd(LE40A559P) 1080P, it has 1 x optical and 3 x hdmi and lots of other connections as most sammys do. Again any advice would be greatful, thanks for your time, jon

The tv is not HD ready but can support EDTV (480p).

First i need to know is what are the best cables to use, the tv has a dvi connector, scarts and rca.

As i understand it to get the best i will need a progressive scan DVD player but i am not sure on how best to connect it up.

And also my sky+ is currently using a scart lead, would i be better using one of those RGB scart converters or something else.

Any advice will be a great help.

How do I connect it so that I can play my sky+ through it and still be able to copy from sky+ to Dvd Recorder. Hope this makes sense as I'm not very good at this technical stuff.

Which type of connection should I be using?
Is HDMI to DVI possible? Will the 11m run to the projector make a difference?
