I have a Garmin 310D. I haven't played around with mapsource until today, I have created a custom route but I cannot see in on the GPS unit. I select transfer to device and everything seems to work fine but there is no option to view the route on the GPS?

what am I doing wrong - where should it be seen?

Only just started looking into it so don't really know what features and things I should be looking for. I know it wouldn't get a huge amount of use - just on the odd long distance journey every now and again.

Ideally I would like to spend under £70 - is this possible?

Any mini-usb type will do as long as it's longer in length than the standard Nav Man/Tom Tom issues.

Possibly looking at 2m or more, to route it safely out the way.

I'm looking spend approx £150, maybe a bit more. I've heard its possible to get a cheap unit and download maps from other more expensive manufacturers to save a few quid, not sure how practicle or legal this is though.

Very few reviews online but only criticism seems to be you can't specify journey rules (like avoid motorways/tolls etc)
