Hey everyone. First time posting here.

This is quite the frustrating problem, I will explain the best I can.

No matter what Call of Duty game I play, this will happen.

When the game chooses me as the host of the match and I get picked about 8 out of 10 times because I have a pretty good internet connection, this will happen.

What happens is that people will be able to connect to the game and join and play, but after about 1-2 minutes about 95% of the players in the game will all leave. I assume they all leave because they are experiencing lag.

But I can host matches in other games perfectly fine, such as Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas. (I've hosted 12 player games in Rainbow Six Vegas with no problems) - I say that because in Call of Duty it's usually 6 on 6 games, so 12 players.

I don't know why this is happening because I can host in other games perfectly fine, but when I am host in Call of Duty games, this happens every single time. :(My NAT is OPEN if that means anything.

So thats what happens. I hope it makes sense, I explained it the best I could. Thanks for reading and for your help. I appreciate it.

I just want to figure out whats happening and fix this once and for all.

For the first week it was working fine but now all of a sudden it won't connect to XBox Live. It's saying it cannot find the IP address.

I've tested the ethernet lead and it's all fine - it connects up with my laptop no problem.

I've spoken to a friend and he had exactly the same problem but doesn't use his XBox much so never got it online - can anyone help?

If it helps, I'm on Be Broadband and my internet connection seems fine...

I live with two other guys and we all have wireless connections to the internet from the router. The xbox is connected by an ethernet cable directly to the router, and the problem is that whenever I go on Xbox live, my housemates internet on their laptops is very, very slow.

Is there a way to solve this problem? Like is there a way to limit the xbox's usage of the bandwidth or prioritise the wireless connections over the xbox so that we can all get a good connection?

Pretty new to console gaming, as Ive always been a pc fan, but just cant afford to keep upgrading my graphics card every 12months. So, me and my brother have gone halves on a new xbox360.

Ive just signed up for a 1month live subscription to see how much use I'd get out of it, now my brother wants to try live as well. Am I right in thinking that he will have to pay for a live subscription separate to mine, or can you have two gamertags under one subscription on the same console?

Thanks for the advice and apologies if the answer to this has already been posted, I couldnt seem to find it

thanks

Hi Gang,

I have the XL broadband package with Virgin so I should "get up to" 20Mb I have tested my connections (thumbnail attached) get about dwnld = 9Mb / Upld = 0.2 > 0.4.

However my problem which has also been a bit of hassle from day one is trying to connect to games on XBOX Live. Recently I have been playing Forza 2 / Operation Flashpoint 2 and when I search for games lots of lobbies appear however when I try to join them it tries to connect before getting the message "unable again - please search again."

Is this something that happens to others and something I will just have to live with or are there any setings on my XBOX / router / ANYTHING to improve things?

Your help would really be appreciated.

Hi guys - i appreciate you must get these all the time however on this one i'm truly stumped, even after a fair bit of research!

Basically upon getting Modern Warfare 2 I saw when going into play multiplayer online it registered my NAT settings as 'moderate', and sometimes even 'strict'. Now the Xbox itself never told me there was any problems when connecting to Xbox live, or testing the connection - however it does make sense as i do quite regularly have problems in joining peoples party's / games.

My network info:

I have a Netgear DG834GT router, and can connect to it either by wireless or cable. The router is being used as a DHCP Server, and initially i assigned my Xbox a specific IP address within the range.

When forwarding the ports i made sure i forwarded them all specifically to this pre-assigned IP address for my Xbox 360 - this didn't work at all.

I also have tried making sure UPnP is enabled - which it is.

I have also tried using my Xbox's assigned IP address as a DMZ - again no luck.

The thing that really baffles me though is that my brother is connected to the exact same network, with no assigned IP, no ports forwarded and his NAT settings appear as open!?!

(I have also tried de-assigning my Xbox it's IP - so it changes each time like my brothers - this doesn't work either)

Now i'm stuck, nothing seems to work - i can't even get any consistency keeping it at moderate - it fluctuates as it wishes!

Where i have assigned my Xbox an IP in the DHCP range - is that the same as manually assigning (in Xbox's dashboard) an IP address?

Any help guys would be much appreciated!

I cannot connect to XBL. I've been trying to connect for a few days now, and I cannot figure out what the problem is. I have tried connecting through ethernet, and through my router.

I find not being able to connect to XBL very strange, mostly because I can connect to the PSN on my PS3 just fine. I currently have my PS3 connected to my Linksys WRT52G2 router via wireless. I have also tried connecting my PS3 to the internet through ethernet, and it works perfect. But when I try to access XBL on my 360 it doesn't connect. I can't figure out what the problem is.

I have asked this question on other gaming forums, but I always get smart-*** responses, no one is willing to help. That is why I am here, hoping someone can help me out.

I've tried putting my 360 into a DMZ, but it still won't connect to XBL. Now sometimes I get to connecting to the network and internet while doing the network connection test, and sometimes I can't even connect to the network.

I'm really lost right now, I don't know what to try. This is particularly frustrating because like I said, my PS3 connects just fine and I am able to play games online without any problems.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? Any suggestions on what I should try? It seems like I've tried everything and nothing seems to work.

Thanks,

Chris.
