I recently bought an Xbox 360 :) -- I am moving to New Zealand early next year. I expect I will need to buy a new adapter or transformer for the voltage, but what I'm worried about a bit after talking to a friend of mine is the whole PAL / NTSC thing.

I thought that since HDMI / HD tv's were so new, they would have gotten away from having a different format like that. My friend thinks that you still need some kind of converter to use an Xbox 360 from the U.S. in a PAL country.

If I do need a converter (I'm not shipping my TV) -- any tips on where to find a good one for gaming?

Also -- I have heard that a lot of games now are not region encoded -- anyone here know anything about that?

Cheers :)

Hello,

Was hoping someone could clear the mind of a confused gamer, well so I'm hoping to soon order a new Xbox 360 after my UK Launch 360 finally went to console heaven. Trouble is I'm hearing all sorts of mixed messages concerning the transfer kit working or not working with the new 250GB hard-drives.

Well I have a second transfer kit that I actually accidentally bought not knowing that my currently used 120GB HDD would come with one. So I was hoping to use that, I believe the issue as to do with the CD. Now I know I have my CD somewhere but I haven't located it yet but to be honest I'm almost 100% sure it won't work as it's a few years old now.

So is there a way to get a updated disc? Strangely the transfer kits seem non-existent nowadays, the only place to buy them is on Ebay and I can't be sure what version of CD they have without asking and confusing the seller :suicide:

So some advice would be welcomed, originally I was planning not to transfer my data and simply buy a memory unit and obtain a few saves here and there. But if the transfer of the HDD is capable then it's worth a go, especially when I consider my Rock Band 2 DLC and large catalogue, I already suspect that that will be a mess to sort out on a new system.

Thanks!

EDIT!
I've just noticed a thread on this issue so I apologise. Delete if one wishes.

Hi,

I bought my 360 just under 3 years ago, 25/11/06 to be exact, and I now keep getting 3 red lights. This is the 2nd time it's happened, I sent it off to be repaired at the beginning of last year.

I know it's 3 years warranty for 3 red lights but am I effected by the fact I've already had it repaired or not? On the 360 support page it says my standard warranty expired on the 5/18/2008 which was only a few months after I got it back from repair.

If I contact MS will they update the warranty if I give them proof of when I purchased the 360, so they'll repair it again?

I'm sure this has been answered before but please bear with me on my first post. :)

I have just bought an XBox 'super' Elite 250Gb and want to get the best display. This replaces my 20Gb unit which I still have and is connected using the same set up ie VGA HD AV Cable (Microsoft) going to a LG Flatron W2234S VGA input only monitor. Sound is fed to an external 2.1 system. What I want to know is can I improve on this visually without massive outlay? I would like to move to a larger screen - say 24"- so would a HDMI capable monitor or a 1080p capable HDTV be of significant improvement? Or should I just be content with the current set up?

Any advice greatly received. Thanks in advance. :)

Bough a core in Aug 08 pre-owned. June 08 RROD so take it back and get another one. In June 09 it went again so got another console, again pre-owned. Two weeks ago it went again so took it back, got another core/arcade what ever it is they are called now. I then asked if I would trade that new one back in for an elite and pay the difference as I heard they didnt have issues. All was ok and they just had one traded in. I thought great and got it. TWO WEEKS it has gone again so I feel that it was traded in with RROD and the previous owner didnt tell gamestation this. Do I have any rights to ask for a NEW console this time bearing in mind I have had 4 and this will be my 5th in about 15months ish?
