Hi

I'm looking into buying a new TV for around £400 and have found this TV on Amazon for £450, which I don't mind paying for a 42" television. Basically, I'm just looking for some feedback on whether this is a good TV for the price or should I be looking at something else for a similar price?

The TV is going to be used for all of the usual stuff really such as watching DVD's (upscaled of course via my PlayStation 3, and I might be getting a standalone 1080p DVD upscaler for my non-region 2 DVD's). I will also be watching Blu-Rays, playing PS3 games and from time to time I may try and hook my PC up to it if I'm watching a HD-DVD (because my 360 broke so I now use the 360 HD drive with my PC).

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I bought a LG 47LH5000 1080p LCD 2 weeks ago.

I went to Curry's on the basis of buying a plasma as i wanted good motion, good SD quality etc etc

The sales guy said they had a special on the LG tv and as it had Trumotion 200hz it was even better than plasma.

I got the Tv home , wall mounted it and found that motion wasnt brilliant. I have tried all the settings , trumotion OFF, Low and High and its the same.

I have a bluray player connected to it (LG BD370) which is supposed to be good and playing a bluray whether on 24fps or 50fps it judders slightly on most parts.

I have tried the bluray player and that disk on my mates plasma and there is No Judder at all.

Ive read tons of review on it and they all say the same "The trumotion isnt very efective"

My question is.......

Would i be within my rights to return it for a refund or to buy a plasma instead, as i feel i have been missold it as my main concern of LCD was motion blur.

At the moment 90% of my viewing will be std def but I need to plan to eventually view more high def. Does anyone have any views or experience of poor std def pictures on (5 star!!) Sony LCD TV's. I'm now really confused, surely What Hi-fi would have mentioned it in their review?! Many thanks...

Our LCD TV got knocked off its stand a few days ago when I was trying to move it to clean behind it. I half caught it, but one corner hit the floor quite hard.

Is this fixable or is it new TV time? If it can't be fixed, I'll have to put up with it, can't afford a new one at the moment. :(

To be fair, during normal watching, it's not that noticeable, only on light screens. The grey screen above, when it's between inputs, is when it's most noticeable. It also seems to diminish when the TV's been on for a while - the pic above is about as good as it gets though, it's quite a bit bigger when the set is cold.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi all,

I have a 42" toshiba tv with a fault, sitting watching tele one day and all was fine then the next thing was the tv went black like it was turned of but still had sound, Led light on green, no menu, no picture just sound, i could turn the sound up and down with the buttons on side of tv and change the channel, but couldnt see what i was doing, taken to local tv repairer and was reported to have faulty backlight inverters, having a master and slave, insurance company wrote the tv off but allowed me to do as i please with it, so im trying to get as much info to fix myself, i have since replaced the inverter boards (Boards that wasnt available for repair) and as made no difference, so now im at a lose to what to do next, i have no idea on how to test the parts, so im just buying parts, but what part do i buy next, im guessing that having replaced the inverter boards im guessing i should go for the power supply board.

The inverter boards are so call not available from Toshiba reason for the write-off.

Master VIT70023.80
Slave VIT70023.81

Tv had no previous problems with the picture before it went dark
