Trust me, I'm danish and know the story of the naked emperor by our national writer H.C. Andersen ...

Nevertheless I find it "doubly" amusing that people here at AVForums, mainly uses the Emperor-story
to ridicule those who have other experiences with different HDMI-cables, than defined by a standard-description !

Talk about following the stream/ the standards/ the self-indulging Emperor ?!?!?

But lynch-mobs aside ... there is a comical relief ahead, for I remember clearly

the "better" sound of the good old radio-tubes

and

the "better" analogue feel of the vinyl-records

or maybe I don't ?

Maybe we should make fun of those guys ?

Or maybe we should make fun
of all the people here putting 10-20 or 50 times more money
on NEXT-YEARS-MACHINES that may or may not show or sound a little bit better ?!?!? :hiya:

Maybe they're lucky to get free N.Y.M.-samples so they can test and tell all others what to buy ...

Or maybe they firmly believe that the "cable-people" are an inferior race ?! :lesson:

WELL, I've noticed the read-first-forum
HDMI Cables - Just the facts ... has added a sick greenish "commandment " :

[Important note added by admin : Different HDMI cables do not affect the quality of the picture. FACT.
Reviews stating that cables produce a 'more natural image' or 'better colours' are complete rubbish.
See this video for the latest info on HDMI 1.4 as of July 2009.]

(Blue Meanies or Main Greenies ? ;))

Well, who am I to tell that it is OK to buy expensive machines ... but not cables ? :nono:

Maybe Your "logical" :lease: AV-souls can't explain my "strange" experience with different HDMI-cables,
then since I'm not an AV-enthusiast and NobodyImportant, You shouldn't worry !

But first let me tell You that I tested different price-categories and I didn't expect to see differences .

Why ? Because I don't have to care about money :offtopic:
(or AVforum-status), so expensive cables cannot influence my observances .

And I saw there were clear differences even between 1-meter-cables like QED, NordOst & Wireworld ...

I'm sorry guys, maybe I'm just a naughty little boy, but those expensive cables
improved a very cheap 80$ DVDplayer to equal a Denon 3930 (2000$) in at least picture !

What if everyone could upgrade their system by spending a fraction of a machine-price on a cabel ?

The AV-machine-companies wouldnt earn that much money more
and maybe AVForum wouldn't get supported by the AV-machine-companies ?

Oh, I better keep quiet, right ? :god: (Maybe I'll get banned now? Oh, please don't - I'll keep quiet !)

I'm having an extension built and our electrician has installed white PVC 3 core cables to a series of speaker positions around the room and he tells me this will be ok for connecting up to either home entertainment system. I also want these to work with an ipod docking station as well. Having read some threads about copper cable versus dedicated speaker cable - will this work or have we done the wrong thing. If this was ok, i'm now pondering what final connectors i need on put on the ends of the cables at the speaker end and also at the other end to go which goes into the dvd unit. I guess it rather depends on what speakers and home entertainment system I buy.

Any advice would be appreciated as a newcomer to these things.

Hi All,
Ive been reading quite a few threads about speaker on here these last few days and had come to the conclusion Fisual Super Pearl 2.5mm would be a good option for my 5.1 setup..

Having read more ive seen a lot of people talking about Van Damme cable. There might not be anything in it but I wondered if the Van Damme Concert Black 2.5mm would be any better?

One slight issue is that the cable is being run under the carpet, id read on here that the Fisual cable is 7mm thick, I can accommodate that with 3 layers of underlay ;) Does anyone know how thick the Van Damme cable is? It looks from the pictures that it may be thicker as both wires are in the same outer jacket?

Of course if theres no benefit to using it over the Fisual then it doesnt matter :D

Sorry for the long post!

P.S. It will be 10m run from my Onkyo 875 to B&W 602.5's and a HTM62 :)

I bought this not expecting much for a £100 device in comparison with the £1K+ price tags I've seen on most of its competition.

What can I say? It does -exactly- what it says on the tin. No evidence of video degradation through the switch and an absolute breeze to set up. Why on earth we have to get these (CE Marked!) devices from the US is beyond me. Of course it comes with a US power supply, but that's easily fixed.

It also comes with two 'wings' for 19" rack mounting. Lights on the front panel tell you where each source is routed to. Green for Output one, Red for Output two. The source is coloured Yellow if both O/P 1 and 2 are being fed by it.

Only minor issue is that I too got the front panel lock up problem when I was repeating IR signals to it via a couple of Powermid IR repeaters. Replaced those with a Keene system (much kudos to Keene too, a nice bunch to deal with) and that problem went away too.

Now if only someone could tell me how to get PS2 controllers working from 20M away my system would be perfect...

Just a placeholder in case people want to know about this....there doesn't seem to be much info around about it, and for the price it's a bit of a steal.

Regards

Hi all

Just wanted to write a quick review of my resent dealings with Neet cables.

I needed a 7m long HDMI lead and was concerned that at this length their may be issues with performance when linked to my projector so I looked into all the so called big brands. I had seen the monster cables HDMI leads in several local shops but just could not bring myself to pay the £150.

I was also in need of a HDMI splitter so that I could run my PS3 on both the projector and my 24" PC monitor and started reading reviews of a 1 in 2 out splitter that Neet manufacture. All reviews were very good so I bought. At the checkout I noticed that they also manufactured cables so I got one of these too at a much more realistic price of £20 inc delivery.

Both items came with a complimentory microfibre screen cloth and arrived within 2 days. I have to say that the quality of both items is superb.
The spitter works perfectly and the lead is to my mind as good as my previous 2m Top brand cable.

Hi all, you will see from my status that I'm new .... although read many interesting things on here over the last few months.

OK, so here is my question ..... I have:

laptop (with HDMI output)
cable box (with Scart Output)
HDD recorder (with Scart Output)

I have just bought a new TV and relocating about 10 metres away from the boxes 'home'. Is it possible to get the output from these three sources into one cable? I am really limited with cable size I can use, hence (if possible) wanting to join together. I also need to run a DTV aerial cable (but I think I am pushing my luck to find a solution to combine that as well).

TV has input options of scart, HDMI and Phono.

Any help / advice / guidance very much appreciated.

Regards
Looking to finally get my 5.1 setup in my lounge and SWMBO has pointed out that she will have "horrible cables running up the walls"

We have a dado rail which I was planning to use to route the cable along in order to hide it a bit but can someone point me towards some decent cable that is fairly subtle and easy to bend round corners etc. Also some advice on fixing it would be good too

Thanks!

I have an LG 32" LCD TV downstairs and a Samsung 32" LCD TV upstairs in the bedroom. Before i had the LG, i used the samsung downstairs and had an old style TV upstairs and used a Ferguson AV3030 as a transmitter so i could watch sky in the bedroom. Everything worked fine, i had a great picture and could change channels no problem.

Since i moved the Samsung upstairs and put the LG in downstairs, the transmitter doesn't seem to be working. I can't get a picture upstairs at all.

Can anyone help? i'm connecting the Scart's the same way i did before.

I am however looking to order the Nikkai HQ 5.8 GHz Video Sender kit from Maplins and put my Wii on the plasma too.
So what i am after is a good Splitter that will give me the best picture and sound quality. I have been looking at the Thor HDC 200.. but is there are any other better cost effective solution?
Any help and advice in this matter would be a much appreciated.
