just had a major shifty around and have now also wall mounted a plasma where i just had a pj screen fitted flush to the wall.

....now i've got to mount the pj screen about 6 1/2 t0 7" inches away from the wall to drop down in front of the telly.
....i dont want to hang it from the ceiling as i've finally had it skimmed (used to have it that way)...i was hoping to mount it on wooden blocks fitted to the wall but that wont come far enough....the only other way i can think of is a pair of brackets of some sort (in a hanging basket type stylee!)

....anybody any other ideas or tips...or know of some purpose built brackets that might do the job.

I'm a student and as such, I'm renting a place while at uni. Because of this I need to make sure I do as little damage to the walls as possible when hanging up a projector screen. I'm looking at a 92" diagonal pull down but was wondering how I would mount such a screen. What's the best way to mount it while keeping the damage to the room to a minimum? The room has white painted walls if that helps.

I am looking for recommendations for a 100-120" electric screen to go with a JVC HD550. I was looking at Beamax as they seem to be what everyone talks about on here. Budget is under 1K

The projector will be just short of 6 meters from the screen so I take it the bigger the screen the better for this distance? Perhaps a 1.3 - 1.5 Gain as its a dark room but not a cave.

The only real need is that it has black casing - anyone know if the M series beamax can come with this option?

Any help on this would be great - as making a decisions is doing me head in :)

I've just bought a projector (2nd hand BenQ PE7700) from a mate.

For WAF purposes I'm looking at a portable screen however the nature of my setup will mean that it will obscure the center speaker when in use.

I'd estimate that it will be no more than 6 inches in front of the speaker and I'm looking at a diagonal size of around 80".

Does anyone know of a portable (pull up design) screen which is acoustically transparent?

Or in practice am I unlikely to experience must 'muffling' of the center channel by having the screen in front?

I've been having a look around at screens but it is a bit of a minefield!!

I'm restricted to around 180cm screen width, so I'm looking around 80" diagonal.

Have so far looked at Sapphire Parklane and DRH manual screens. Similar cost, and both have what sounds like a nice locking & retraction mech, although I have read of a few problems with DRH's retraction mech's.

Any comments on whether there is much between screen material quality? Any others to look at for similar price? (~£100)

I would really like electric, but I'm not that bothered to spend another £100-150 extra. Being an electrical engineer I'd maybe be tempted to look at retrofitting a manual screen, but then I could imagine it may be less hassle to just buy one.

Other than the ebay ones (which I have heard are very thin, and so maybe susceptible to curl/waves), are there any other reasonably priced electric screens? I moved into my new place 6 months ago installed my HD65 thinking i'd have no problems with a screen turns out i'm having major problems with christmas and the likely hood of people coming over i need to get it sorted ASAP.

The Pj is approx 6m away from the Projection wall, the roof has a sloped roof.
Acording to Projector Central my Screen is
H208cm / 82"
W371cm / 146"

But theres a window in the middle i did think fixed frame but that wont do as i need access to the window so i need some kind of roller screen thinking either horizontal with a drop down or a vertical with a pull across screen only thing is the ones i've found cost arount £1000 and i cant afford that i've tried covering the window with material but the image contast is so differant and the screens not flat because of the window ledge Please some one help its sending me mad.
