The prices quoted are in line with the going rate in the US on-line shops. I would expect that he can get any other make as long as you know exactly what.

This is good development as it may put a competive pressure on UK importers to even up the unreasonable differences in prices between UK and US.

Why isn't Mr Inthemix offering us these bargains officially, in the form of a Power Buy.

The market for high end processors may be small but there is a market for these and power amps as well, that no-one has bothered to exploit.

I think that you are being a little unfair as he isn't selling from his website but inviting people to discuss with him and I would imagine that interested parties would be given his name and address to send their cheques to.

May I suggest to Mr Mix that in order to obtain greater exposure he needs to correct the spelling mistake (bear and not bare) then apply to have his website included in this directory. It will be approved within 48 hours as the editor is a member of this forum and once it is approved and appearing in the directory he should add it to Google.

Maybe he's trying to keep a low profile. Remember Gecko putting pressure on M&K to put pressure on Stirling Syco not to sell M&K professional speakers to Uncle Eric? Same principle. Maybe he doesn't want to attract the attention of UK Lexicon dealers and Lexicon's UK distributor....

I would not consider advertising on hififorsale as particularly "low profile", this is IMHO the E-bay of the hifi world, great to sell not necessarily the same (in all examples) to buy.

Another thing ... how would a purchaser stand with warranty, etc. I can't see CSE wanting to repair a month old MC12 thats been imported independantly from the USA. Is Mr DanInTheMix going to be able to provide some form of warranty. Is he selling as a company ... in which case end users have consumer protection ... or is he selling as an individual in which case buyer beware.

And I'd also like to agree with Ian and Steve how important spelling and gramatical errors are especially when it comes to trying to sell something (semi)professionally.

I was talking about when creating a webpage ... I know my limitations and if I was creating something professional (ore even semi-professionally) I would employ a proof reader as I know my spelling isn't accurate at times. Also I wouldn't write a web page at 10:15 which does improve my english slightly ...

Anyway, an online forum is another matter entirely ... and I'm not going to copy everything into Word just to make sure ... though if Spectre could provide a spell checker when he updates the code next ...

So as the old saying goes "... and your point is??"

As regards guarantees, I would think you'd be okay with Bryston kit, because Bryston's manfacturer warranty explicitly applies to all their equipment for 20 years after it leaves the factory, and regardless of how many people have owned it in the mean time. (See here for details).

Something like (say) Theta equipment might be a problem as their warranty is not only non-transferrable but also only valid in the country of purchase (which would presumably be the US in this case). See here.

I don't know what the situation is with Lexicon.

Clarification on the above point:

PMC (who are Bryston's UK distributor) apparently aren't prepared to support someone who says "I've just bought this piece of Bryston kit from an american dealer" because they (and Bryston) feel it isn't fair for the UK distributor to have to support stuff they didn't profit from selling.

BUT:

PMC do offer support for second hand Bryston kit, regardless of how many previous owners there are, and, according to James Tanner of Bryston, there's unlikely to be a problem if someone bought the equipment second hand in this country, even if the previous owner bought it in america.

As far as I know Mr DanInTheMix is a private individual - buying stuff from a US dealer in his own name with your money, and then sending it on to you.

I think he can get Theta kit as well, although possibly only with a US power supply and step-down transformer. You'd have to check with him about that.
