Thanks for that, mjr600......just ordered one! Price includes next day delivery also, so I'm a happy chappie

Does anyone know how this compares to the Acer 712 17" LCD monitor? I had one on order, but cancelled it in favour of the Samsung.

Has anyone got one of these yet?

I'm tempted but haven't delt with these people before and have no experience of this particular monitor.

Samsing TFT

Using it now, its a work of art, just plugged it in and pressed the auto button. Best money I ever spent on the PC and I now have enough desk space to mount another next to it !

Now that would really cause a domestic.

Anyone else bought one ?

I was going to buy one of these but a friend had the 181 and said although it was great for 2D stuff, games and videos suffered badly from ghosting. That is really putting me off, especially as you can find other models with 16ms refresh for not much over £300,

OK........mine's up and running! Despite not being "blown away" by the performance with DVDs I have just discovered the "pivot" feature, which has brought a very big to my face. For me the styling of the unit, and the fact that performance is more than adequate for my needs, AND that very nifty pivot feature makes me give the Samsung 171P (design by F.A. Porsche!) a big

Thanks again mjr600.

I ordered one on Wednesday, it arrived Friday, just finished rigging it up and it is STUNNING. I have it connected to the d.v.i. output on my graphics card. I've tried it with counter-strike, unreal II, unreal tournament 2003 and there seems to be no ghosting/problems at all. The overall look and build quality is excellant, It's probably the only thing I'll ever own with Porsche stamped on it aswell
Thank you mjr600 for the heads up( I've checked a few web sites and the cheapest I've seen it is £380, so it is a bargain)
Cheers(a very happy) Oddbodd

My mate has one of these, they are really nice, although when i compare it with my LG 17" it does suffer with a small amount of ghosting, whereas the LG with 16MS has none.

but its about £50 cheaper so i suppose thats about right really

Are you sure your LG is 16ms?

Is it the L1710b Model? If so, I think the response time is 20ms despite what the LG website syas, if not, can tell me where you got it from as I want to order one for a friend.

Cheers.

I've seen a 18 inch LCD screen at Staples in Southampton for £349.99, can't remember the make though. Includes built in speakers - seems like bit of a bargain to me!

HI i have looked at loads of reviews on the Hitachi and its actually classed as a 16ms response 12ms + 4ms rising and falling to get the true response you add them together

any 17" monitor for £350 or more is gona be excellant nothing really to choose between any of them

Yes, that is correct. The Hitachi is 16ms.

The LG is 20ms hence the speed advantage in games, when compared with the samsung. A 16ms will be coming out shortly.

However, I don't agree that all £350 17 TFT's are the same. In 2D maybe, but not when games are involved.

No i agree not all the same, but i do beleive they are all similar,

a novice computer user would not notice the difference

my mates do not even see the difference in games from my 30MS Relisys 15" TFT to my New 17" LG

they dont spend that much time around computers

I've had a 171 for 18 months now

After purchasing one of these around christmas 2001 (for £600!) I can say the display has been very reliable and pleasurable to use. No dead pixels so far and the monitor will outlast the PC by miles.
Happy viewing (blast them bad guys)!
