I have a 605 already but the bigger 704 will be used mainly at home instead of my worn out portable DVD player.

The 605 doesn't have the web browser installed as standard like the 704,you have to buy the web browser plug-in and that makes it almost the same price.
The 704 is quite a decent package,there is a mains charger unlike the USB charging lead you get with the 605 and it also has a natty little remote that controls most of the players function.
In terms of value for money the 704 in Argos wins hands down.

I have had a AV500,504,605 and now the 704,for me the screen on the 704 is one of the best out of all four,the 504 by comparrison is rubbish.
The screen on the 605 and AV500 is about on par with the 704 but obviously much smaller
If you have had any Archos device before you wont be disappointed with the 704,I certainly wasn't.

one thing i like about this ( web browser wifi..) have you try download video? youtube etc?

For Youtube to work you need the 05 series,not the 04 series.

I have posted up on the subject of the 704 (it got a bit of a roasting )

Still as Im new to the game and on a budget ,i went for the 704 with the Argos offer so far well happy with it, internet work well, mp3 are fine ,photo's are good, just need help with downloading my films files on to it.

Been ripping dvd's with XOOM for my video ipod ,but when i go to put them on my 704 ,they will not play and i get this reply telling me to buy this software from ARCHOS called " Video podcast plug-in (H.264, AAC Audio) "

Is this the only way to put my files on the machine.

Total newbie on this machine and subject.

will get the 05 machine one day
