I got one of these recently via another offer - it's excellent.

If you have the cash - buy one!

Guys

Is this ideal for PS3 and/or HD E1 or higher model for the HD sound formats?

It doesnt support tyhe HD sound formats as such but has a set of analogue connections which are effectively pass throughs. You will however need a player like the EX1 which has the analogue out connections to do this the E1 doesnt have this and only supports HD formats through HDMI.

If you are going that route you will have to wait a while longer but its said that the new Onkyo's will support this....expect to pay double this price though.

Swings and roundabouts eh!!!!

It will accept LPCM over HDMI so yes.

EDIT:- Should just clarify though that this is only up to 5.1, 7.1 is not supported.

Re: Final stocks Onkyo TX-SR674E (silver) - £299.00

I got mine on Thursday!! Looks great, waiting to set it up until I get my Q Acoustic 1010's for it. Free next day delivery too, ordered it at like 7am, came the next day.

Read a few reviews on here and for the cash, they seem really good. Everyone I have seen commenting leads me to believe for £300 you can't get a better reciever.

Will be looking out for future offers on the site! First time I saw this company.

Get some Q Acoustic 1010's in on offer!!

Re: Final stocks Onkyo TX-SR674E (silver) - £299.00

I would like to say a couple of points here:
1. Great amp very happy with it!
2. Good service from Avsales, I bought this amp from them about 2 months ago, and although I paid £399 for it, I did get a good set of leads included in the deal and also some money back when the prices came down (just after I bought it - typical! ).

Anyway, overall still got a good deal i think, and at this price you would be mad not to get it!

Re: Final stocks Onkyo TX-SR674E (silver) - £299.00

I brought one of these amps ( Onkyo TX-SR674E ) from avsales and its a wicked amp for DVD and TV playback.

But hooked up to the PS3 via HDMI gives strange results.

The rears dont seem very loud when playing LPCM.

Dont know if anyone else has noticed this problem, but posting a help in the PS3 forums didnt help me.

The fronts just seem way to loud compared to the rears, not very well balanced when using the LPCM.

Re: Final stocks Onkyo TX-SR674E (silver) - £299.00

ok guys, dont laugh

Is it just a case of HD DVD player via HDMI, and Blu-Ray player via HDMI to amp, then another HDMI to PJ? or is there alot more to it that that?

Cheers!

Tony

Re: Final stocks Onkyo TX-SR674E (silver) - £299.00

OK, for some reason I'm really tempted by this. I currently have a Logitech 5400 5.1 system. With it being in the bedroom (40in Sammy, 360 HD-DVD and PS3 though!) I've convinced myself that's more than enough, and to be fair it sounds pretty good. I've run out of optical inputs though, so I'm having to swap cables around. I'm toying with the idea of using this as an excuse to buy a new toy Am I likely to notice any kind of audio improvment, even with the existing speakers & sub? With this, will I be able to output any better sound settings from the PS3 etc?

Cheers
