that's why I said the wording was a bit ambiguous, it says optimal solution 1280/1024 which if it should be maximum resolution then it will be hi-def, aldi could be in trouble with the trades description act on this one!!!

This sounds bargainous, but I've searched but can't find any plasmas with such a high contrast. How do you know it's an LG? Does anyone know where to contact Aldi? I can't find any email address to query them, or phone numbers. It already seems to be a poor place to buy for any support. I can just see the check out girl when you ask any questions. I'm unsure that Aldis stack em high attitude works for plasmas.

I checked out the Aldi website and their ad for the plasma has an LG badge at the top of it (and Samsung). Like other electrical goods they sell, the set itself will be Tevion badged. Whilst the appearance is different, the spec seems very similar to the LG RZ-42PX11 (see 4 x Forum reviews - guide price £1400) down to the claimed contrast, which one review confirms is exaggerated. The LG has a DVI socket, but the resolution is 852 x 480. However, looking at the mainly positive reviews, if the Aldi offering IS the LG, then with a 3-year warranty, it's a bargain.

Following pressure from AV Forum members Aldi have been forced to remove the HDTV Ready logo from their advertising and website. This set clearly is not. It remains to be seen if it is a bargain or an outdated model being flogged off on the cheap. It appears to be able to accept HD, but downscales it to SD. I guess someone will buy it at that price.
