First time I did it, it rejected me at login, I re-registered using a different gmail address and it let me in. It seems to be an anomoly with the "invite" process through isnoop, I know it works I now have three accounts and 3gig of free storage.

All sorted - some invites are already used - unless you get a colourful screen and a link to the inbox from there. If not someone else has used that ink while you were signing up.

Exclamation G-mail Privacy Issues

For those who value privacy, read this first before signimng up

G-mail Privacy Issues

Please note though that neary all web mail services (unless you are running your own mail server) will have the same issues. The main difference with Google is that you probably use many of their services such as newsgroups and search. By pooling ALL the information they collect in one place, it makes it easier for authorities to piece together your activities.

I am not saying don't use it, but do so with your eyes open

I guess that is very true... but as long as they dont add spyware in their software, I am quite happy to use their software. I guess its a kind of big brother warning isn't it. And to think it all came out of a small company set up by 2 people. Their offices aren't amazing either. I drove past them when I was in San Jose this summer. Great company though, I respect them, just like ebay.

And thanks for the gmail notifier. Great idea by them!

Look, its moving a bit off topic but I'm sorry SPY if the authorities want to know what you are up to watching your email is a bit simplistic.

Firstly that nice security guard who looks after your offices at night sticks one of these on your PC and lifts it off after a month....... http://www.bitztechnology.com/Keykatcher.htm

Then a copy of back orifice, encrypted into a jpeg so it bypasses your anti-virus is installed on your home PC when you recieve it as an email from Mr Unknown........http://www.bo2k.com/

A GPS tracking device is stuck under your car.

Your mobile/pager is 'cloned' and all communication is recorded.

And thats just the easy stuff all allowed by http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts2000/20000023.htm

So don't be paranoid, try www.hushmail.com if you want easy encryption, or get your own PGP key for real security.

For a bit of fun try encrypting your email as spam http://www.spammimic.com/

In this day and age there's no such thing as privacy.

By the way the keycatcher is great, stick it on the bosses PC when he's out and get to know who he's shagging.

It worked for me...

Strongly recommend using an email address that does not have a delay, as I got a couple of invites and by the time the email arrived they were already used.

Third time lucky - I now have Gmail.

With regard to privacy, all electronic communication is tapped anyway, so stop worrying about it so much.

Unless you are worried fror a reason, in which case it protects everyone else.

It would be like worrying about whether or not your boss can read your emails at work - of course he can if he wants to.

Hi All,

I am not worried as I accept this happens all the time.

I was just pointing out the facts to those who may not be aware
