Humax PT800 freeview box with 40Gb hard drive

This cracking freeview box works in a similar way to Sky + (but obviously with freeview instead).

It has a 40gb hard drive allowing you to store in excess of 20 hours of TV.

It can also pause live tv etc.

It had a 5 star review in home cinema choice etc when priced at £200.

http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi-...=WVTV/200402/0 58_WV_0204.pdf

It can be found on the dixons web site for £122 delivered if you use the following vouchers.

Freeview 10 YOUATWORK

put the first voucher in first then use the second one.

their delivery is disgraceful, thats why avoid shops like that! However it was a bargain too good to be missed.

I made the transaction last Sunday, still waiting as it says - ORDER BEING PROCESSED

Now you have the unit could you answer a couple of questions about it please?

1. If you set it to record a programme in a few days time and there is a change in the time it is due to record will the unit record the programme correctly?

2. Can you set it to record all episodes of a programme - basically I need it to record all eps of casualty on Saturday and holby city aka Holby SH*7Y on Tuesdays for the misses.

Thanks
Paul

1. Don't know Paul but I'm sure there's a thread somewhere.

2. There's no series link like Sky+ but you can set the timer to record at the same time every day or every week - that would do it.

Hi . . . New here! Thanks to F G Evans for posting the above offer. If anybody is still interested, I have just ordered mine, and the offer is still working !!! Reviews of this unit seem pretty good, for the price. Apart from the lack of a second tuner, this seems very good value.

S.

Mine arrived, its seems great however I can not tell for sure until I get my aerial replaced!

Any one know of any good Aerial installers in the Warrigton area?also
I am able to pass an RGB signal through the SCART Video In of the Humax and then out to the TV. Only have one RGB SCART and would like to share it between the DVD player and Humax STB, currently the STB is outputting S-Video.

Just be aware:

This item only has 1 tuner, so you can't use it to watch one freeview programme, whilst it's recording another. You can, of course use the analog tuner in your TV to watch channels 1 - 5 (in 4x3), whilst the box is recording a freeview programme.

AFAIK, there is no equivalent of PDC broadcast via Freeview (yet?) so a delay or reschedule of a broadcast will, I think, result in a missed recording. This will affect every such box, not just this one.

I use the RGB passthrough to connect my Gamecube. The Gamecube goes into the VCR scart, and then the Humax's TV out scart goes into the TV as normal.

Gamecube works fine like this.

I wasn't too sure of the RGB pass through as it looked to me like it the video scart was only wired for S-Video (according to manual), will try it tonight.

Thanks

I've just bought one! Straight £147, no vouchers, from Dixons and carriage was free. It only took a few days. Excellent piece of kit but it runs hot, the same as their sat. receivers. The 7day EPG worked straight away and the info page says it was updated to May software version.

Does anyone know if I will be able to archive stuff from the Humax on my Panny e55 DVD recorder - if so how would you set up the equipment?

Just plug the DVD recorder into the SCART slot on the back of the HUMAX PVR! Press play on the Humax and Record on the DVDR.

The HUMAX outputs RGB and S-Video.

A Big thanks for the lead

Just keyed in the codes - tried a few others too without success and placed the order at £122 lets see what happens. was going down the ebay route but Dixons offers a little more after sales service and the cost at £122 is comparable. Many thanks once again

Forgive the stupid question, but does this box accept an external source such as cable and enable you to record on to the hard drive?
