Thanks: Gave 109, Got 91 | For Sale : Thomson Sky HD Box with new EPG
I have no dish in my new home so I'm getting rid of this, Version no. 4E3006
Asking price is £80 collected (or + p&p)
Does not come with original box, but is bundled with a HDMI cable, power supply and a sky+ remote. Box is in good working order and is very reliable.

Hi
Has this box got component outputs and is it quiet (no whine on fans which switch off after a while etc) ?
If so, can offer £85 delivered ?
(sorry, forgot to ask....non-smoking use etc) ?
Thanks

Yes the box has component outputs and is relatively quiet. In comparison to a Sky+ box it is loud, but with the sound on the TV you can't hear it.
Would really be looking for £90inc though.
Let me know cheers.

What do you mean by bundled with power suppy? Do you just mean the power cable? How is the Sky+ remote different to the SkyHD one? Ever had any lipsync problems with it? Is the box sluggish with the new EPG or ok?
Cheers

Cheers | - Yes I mean the power cable.
- The Sky+ remote is exactly the same as the HD one, only the HD remote has a smaller, newer shape. Google images should show a nice example.
-No lipsync problems at all.
-Actually seems faster on the new EPG than it was on the old EPG, where it was slightly slower than my old Pace Sky+ box.
Hope this helps, Nick.

Could I again ask what model this box is please? Mods seem to have deleted my previous request.
The sticker on the bottom - DSIxxxx?
Thanks.

Hi nicklone86
Thomson boxes are renowned for the capacitors in the power supply units not being able to meet temperature requirements. Thus after a while, they fail.
If this box has component out connections, then it must also be one of the older type boxes as this facility was not supplied with the later boxes.
Obviously, your box still works or you would say so and you have also downloaded the new EPG. However, I wondered:
Has the box had a new PSU fitted? And if so, was it one with better specification capacitors?

Could this be seen working if I wanted to collect?
EDIT: Ignore me, I guess if you've got no dish the answer to that will be no

They were in fact in the original thread for this sale which was archived before this one appeared.
Thanks for the info Nick.

The PSU has not been upgraded but I've owned the box for 6 months and it has crahsed twice before I reformatted the HDD and since then it's been plain sailing.
Also never had a failed recording after formatting the HDD in Feb 2009. The only issue with the box is that sometimes the series link drops off on the occasional programme, but this is easily rectified by checking the planner once a week to make sure eveything that should be there, is there. I'm sure this is a problem with a number of HD boxed with the new EPG, before that came this wasn't a problem...
Anyway, still for sale at £80 + £10 p&p
