Sennheiser CX500 Headphones - from £12.48

Play have some great bargains on the CX500 headphones in white (to go with your iPod).

They are £15.99 from Play

or

£12.49 from one of their sellers

CNet had this to say about them:

"Sennheiser's CX 500s are one of our favourite pairs to recommend to anyone as a first upgrade. They're a great choice for joggers or gymaholics, as the in-line remote offers quick access to volume controls. They're extremely lightweight and comfortable, and offer sound quality twice as impressive as the CX 300s."

and CDR info:

"Sennheiser has a winner here. With an MSRP of US$129.00, the CX 500 is right in the sweet spot of some amazing sounding headphones. The combination of an in-line volume control, a very powerful micro driver and lots of bundled accessories makes this a great buy.

The sound quality is more "bright" than some in-ear designs - but I felt they were a lot of fun to listen to. The sound stage was great - I could place instruments in different locations. Vocals, instruments and bass were all very strong. I found them comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and they work well for exercising.

All in all - the overall sound was on par with Earphones costing much more.

Pros:

* Great sound
* powerful bass
* very comfortable
* lots of bundled goodies in the package

Cons:

* may be too expensive for some
* in line volume control can be easily moved"

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Headphones - from £12.48

Thanks, useful link re the fakes.

I would imagine the play.com ones are real but probably best to avoid the independent sellers listed on their site for £12.49.

I have ordered a pair of the 15.99 (still a great bargain) ones from play. I will check them and post on here if they are real or fake

nah, the play ones are definitely not fakes - it's the playtraders you have to be weary of.

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Headphones - from £12.48

Just had some delivered from ebuyer.

Extemely disappointed with the quality, was going to replace the one came with my MP3, but the original MP3 stock earphones are way way better.

1. Very tinny sound, almost no base.
2. Everytime cable is move slightly(cable rub against body), loud sound comes from the earphones.

Never again,
a. if this is the quality, bye bye sennheiser....
b. if there are that many fakes, bye bye sennheiser...

Thumbs up Re: Sennheiser CX500 Headphones - from £12.48

Received my CX500's from Play (not the Play traders) this morning.

I have checked the headphones and the packaging against a number of websites that provide guides for detecting fakes and they are definitely genuine.

Great bargain

Re: Sennheiser CX500 Headphones - from £12.48

Got mine this morning as well, very impressed. Personally I think they are better than the cx300s I had, (I swapped the buds on the headphones with the supplied ribbed-earplug-style medium buds, these give a tighter fit for me which means improved bass and greater noise 'cancelling')

@keydude I recommend swapping the rubber buds for the supplied earplug style ones, and yes there is some cable rub something I have got used to from the cx300s.

Got these headphones yesterday, they're excellent! I feel like a fool for relying on the standard iPod ones for so long.

The difference is unbelievable isn't it! I converted everyone in my family with an ipod to the cx300s, I find the normal ipod ones uncomfortable now!
