Re: Great set of cans for £30!

What a bargain! I've tried these on a few months ago and loved them, but at the time they were around £80! Here is an excerpt from a review I found (google):

Quote:
The Goldring DR150 has its flaws, but at $150, there's really not that much to complain about. In fact, $150 is a downright steal for these and nets you a good solid headphone that can be used for almost any kind of music or any kind of application.
-and that was at $150!

Thanks a lot, OP - I've ordered my pair!

Re: Great set of cans for £30!

Absolute bargain.
These were considered decent @ $150. and can stand up to the likes of the Sennheiser HD595

But at that price.........what a steal!!!

Think their burn in period is 250+hours and apparantly they love amps/receivers.

Re: Great set of cans for £30!

I've ordered a pair. Over on head-fi I've heard them referred to as being very much like an easily driven, slightly less detailed HD650. For £30, I think it's very much worth a try, just to find out if that description is in any way accurate.

Re: Great set of cans for £30!

Well I just received mine at work today - and what a great buy!

Compared to my Sennheiser HD595, the DR150's are slightly less open and more direct. They may have a slighly lower bass output, but they are still great for rock music, which is what I mainly listen to. Tried them with a bit of pop/electronica and some instrumental as well, and I was very surprised to find that they were such good all-rounders - especially for £30! The wearing comfort is great - they are a bit tight for bigger heads, but that'll wear off after using them for a while, and the detachable cable is a nice feature.

I would recommend these even at twice the price, so at £30 these are a true no-brainer.

Re: Great set of cans for £30!

Worth keeping an eye out on play. They seem to do regular offers on Goldrings A lot of items get listed at the cheapest playtrade price when they go out of stock. When they're back in stock at play they might be cheaper again.

Very happy with mine.
