Kindle Fire in UK

hey! everyone
im looking to get my wife a Kindle Fire
and for her birthday dec 3. so i want to get one soon. i can get them from ebay. as amazon.co.uk wont sell them and .com wont ship kindle fires to the EU yet.
does anyone know if it will work fine. being a US version being used in the UK?

I remember reading that the Fire won't work fully in the UK; something to do with Amazon Cloud issues I think?
This is only from memory but may be a starting point for a seach.

I think it could be because I looked into this myself. As above, the main issue relates to Amazon Cloud and that doesn't have a release date for the UK (as far as I'm aware) so a bit like dominos really.
