Re: Panasonic DVD recorder upgrade from EH50.... Any Suggestions?
For the past 3 years(ish) I had a Sony RDR-HX910 and a Panasonic EH60. Both had 200 - 250 Gb HDD's. I used the Sony for movies and the Panasonic for my favourite motorsports like Formula 1, MotoGP and World Superbikes. Both had partial erase - Sony = A - B Erase,, Panasonic = Partial Erase,, same thing.. You set your start & finish markers and delete between... I was convinced that the Sony was the better quality capture and reproduction, so it handled the movies, whereas the Panasonic had better editing and the sportier applications would be more suited to this, so that's why I did what I did with them. It also had good faultless high speed burn to disc, as did the Sony which was a tad fussy on which DVD's you fed it.
Well, just a month or two ago, I decided to upgrade everything...
Panasonic 42" SD Plasma TV... Replaced with a Sony LCD 40" 1920x1080.
Sony HX910... Replaced with the new Sony HX980
Panasonic EH60... Replaced with the new EH58
With the two recorders,, why would I want to replace them with anything but their latest offspring, especially when I was so happy with what they both had to offer..??? The later stuff can only be better, surely. Yes, in my humble opinion, they are...
The Sony HX980 has improved its editing 100% and at last it is as good as the Panasonic in its own right.
If you are happy with Panasonic, why not simply get the latest in the lineup. It makes sense to me...
