Question Panasonic TX-32LCD700 problems with activating DVD recorder

I have recently purchased a Panasonic TX-32LXD700 and DMR-EX77EB HDD/DVD recorder.

I cannot set a programme to record onto the DVD recorder using the TV remote control-(guide function)-although a small green button comes on the TV bottom left corner, the DVD recorder is not activated. In addition the TV channels are blocked until I cancel the recording using the exit key.

The reverse sequence is possible , enabling recording from the DVD recorder direct using its menu function, which I don't like however.

I am plugged in with a single HDMI cable.

I prefer the menu setup and logical sequence offered by the TV digital guide, and would prefer to use this, as opposed to the one which comes up on the DVD recorder tuner. I assume the Viera link should enable this?

Any suggestions?

This function is a feature of Q link only and therefore only available when you are connected by scart... which I gather from your other posts you must have removed.

Your other problem mentioned there of the channel being locked was because , evidently you were using the 'Direct TV record' button to record - which will lock the channel as you are using the TV's tuner as the source for recording.

Similarly, using Q link and the TV'S GUIDE to record involves using the TV's tuner.

Such a system is problematic and restrictive and I recommend you put up with programming directly on the EX77.
It is more efficient and gives you the flexibility you want.

If you really want to use the TV's guide for record programming you will have to suffer being locked to the channel being recorded...albeit you do have the option of seeing the Analogue channels... whilst a DVB channel is being 'direct recorded'
