Expensive DVD player or DVD recorder?

Does it make sense to buy an expencive DVD player, like Onkyo DV-SP504, for about 350-400 Euros, as for the same price can buy a DVD recorder with DVB-T tuner and HDD, like Sony RDR-HXD870, Pioneer DVR-550HX-S and Panasonic DMR-EX77EG. The only advantage of some DVD players seems SACD support. If players in this class and recorders have the same picture quality, recorders seems to offer much more for the same price.
