Re: pioneer 440 hx guide plus probs

Hi

You need to tune in and be able to see the analogue TV channels to get GuidePlus+ data. This will also mean connecting the analogue tuner bit at the back of the recorder using the short aerial wire supplied and then using the setup menu to tune in the analogue channels.

My advice if you are only recording from Freeview with no external cable or satellite box is to use the Digital EPG supplied by Freeview in place of GuidePlus, and you need to select this in the setup menu (called Digital EPG) The Freeview one doesn't need to turn your machine on for several hours a day to receive the data, is advert free and should give zero problems.

Regards

Phil

Re: pioneer 440 hx guide plus probs

Hi board,

I;m having a couple of problems with my 440hx, (apart from the loud fan noise it likes to make constantly )

1. I cannot seem to get guideplus to find and download info for film4+1, as i usually find that i record at those later times to avoid crossover with earlier progs, anyone know a way around this, or do i continue to switch to digtal epg to set timer?

2. I am a CSI:Earth fan, and always set my recording to have subtitles on the recording default, which is fine for channel 5, but i have noticed that five US doesn't support subtitles, and tonight I started to watch one which displayed the message "there are no subtitles supported with this programme" right in the centre of the screen, remaining all the way through [not ideal ]

is there a method for turning the subtitles off for one channel as i can't see it myself, otherwise this might keep happening, which sucks?

best
k

Yes, that's all very well but can you edit recorded programmes to allow for repeats ie. every day, mon-fri etc. and can you do most of the other things that the GuidePlus+ system allows you to do? Nowhere in the instructions, for the Pioneer 550 for example, does it indicate that you can do any of these things, using the Digital EPG alternative to GuidePlus+.
