DVD Recorder play thourgh all of house

Hi
I recently purchased a Sony DVD recorder RDR GX120 and have installed to my main tv in my sunroom. MY problem is that i would like to be able to play a dvd in sunroom and be able to see it throughout all the tvs in my house. Is this DVD recorder capable of doing this throug the normal RF output cable.

I already have my video going throughout the whole house so everything is wired ok.

What i have done is as follows:
Main roof ariel into skybox, the from sky into dvd, then from dvd into video, then from video through the whole house. the video is workin fine.

Suppose the questio is has the dvd recorder got an rf output channel that i can tune my tv into.

Thanks in advance.

Re: DVD Recorder play thourgh all of house

Not many DVD players play their output through the RF aerial cable - the aerial is used purely to pick up the channels for recording, and then to pass the aerial signal on to the next piece of kit in the chain so that the signal eventually arrives at your TV. However, if you scart connect your DVD output to your VCR input, press play on the DVD then select the VCR's RF channel input on your various TVs, you might find that you can watch the output from the DVD, albeit via your video recorder.

Re: DVD Recorder play thourgh all of house

I tried using the RF modulator in my video to transmit my DVD signal to my 23" Samsung LCD in the kitchen, and the result was pants.

I also tried a video sender which was also unacceptable.

I'm now using video over cat5 (keene, s-video unit, ~£100) which gives a good enough picture. The fact that it's the active unit, so has the IR extender included, is a definate bonus. The componant version would probably be better, but at £250 it should be.

You may be OK if you're only viewing on small CRTs for the video RF method, but with a flat panel I think you may find things a bit limiting.

Good luck,
Graeme.

It will be much cheaper and get better picture if you buy a couple of cheap DVD players.

Yes, but that doesn't help to watch somthing on my hard drive (although that's not strictly relevant to gismo11's problem).

Also SWMBO doesn't always agree with more black boxes......

Re: DVD Recorder play thourgh all of house

If the Sony is connected to the VCR via a SCART cable try selecting the SCART socket as the record source on the VCR (e.g. EXT1) then the DVD playing on the Sony should be on the VCR channel.
