Best budget DVD recorder for playback and recording ?
OK, finally going to bite the bullet and buy a DVD recorder. Been putting it off for a long time now and I need something to replace my ageing VCR.
My question is in the title, what is currently the best budget DVD recorder for playback and recording ? Don't really want to spend more than £150 if I have to. I have seen that you can get the Panny DMR-ES10 for under £120 now, is this a good option ?
All I want is to be able to record off NTL and be able to play my DVDs thru component and get as good a PQ as possible.
Thanks for any help and recommendations.

Panasonic DMR-ES10 or DMR-ES20D are possible alternatives to the DMR-ES15.£100-£150 should get whichever suits best 20D if wanting freeview 10 if not.DMR-ES15 has no RGB scart input so any recordings you make will be S-video quality at best unless from its own tuner,ES10 and ES20D both have RGB scart input/output and I think more suited to your quality of setup. .

Pioneer DVR 230 perhaps its won a best buy on Which as have ES10/ES20D.Pioneer uses only DVD-R and DVD-RW for recording and looks a bit better than Panasonics efforts its on Amazon.co.uk for £120 but use internet may well be cheaper elsewhere.Philips are best avoided however due to terrible reliability problems,I had one of their recorders about 4 years ago constant bother so was ditched in favour of Panasonic DMR-E50 and recent posts suggest not much has changed.Panasonics are ugly ducklings nowadays but the best quality buy far at their prices. .Ps,just checked Pioneer website and DVR 230 has no RGB scart input so no better than ES15.
