Panasonic DMR-HS2: Faulty Play List on Hard Drive

The Panasonic DVD DMR-HS2 recorder was purchased in May 2004 and functioned well until July 2005. Since then, occasionally, when trying to use the play list on the hard drive, the recorded program titles are displayed but the same program is shown on the screen irrespective of which one has been selected. Editing, dividing and dubbing are not possible and the only action allowed is reformatting of the hard disk. This results in all recorded programs being lost. The fault usually arises when partial erase is selected but not every time. After refomatting, the recorder will then function for a while but the problem has recently arisen more frequently.

This problem only arises when trying to use the play list on the hard drive, there are no problems with using the play-list with DVD-RAM or DVD-R disks.

Has anybody got any advice, please?
