Beware - Incorrect Information on Panasonic Website
I have been trying to find information about the Panasonic DVD recorders with hard disks on their website. One page claims that their DVD recorder DMR-ES15EB-S has a hard disk and this is incorrect. Look here:
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/dvd-recor...eb-s/index.htm
Sadly this is not the first serious mistake I have found in Panasonic info. the same mistake occurred two years ago in one of their brochures which claimed, incorrectly, that the DMR-E55EB/EBL also contained a hard disk.
Buyer beware.

If you go here
http://www.panasonic.co.uk/customer-...oad-centre.asp
You can download the manuals for most Panasonic equipment, which are a pretty much definitive source of info on what they can and can't do. Mistakenly listing an HD on the website is one thing, giving instructions in the manual for it would be a different order of cock up!
I'm finding manual downloads invaluable for assessing equipment I'm thinking of buying and they give a far more detailed walkthrough of features and abbilities than any spec list or review.

Just spent a lot of time doing that Ian saved me some grief as despite What video praising the e15 and saying it has RGB in and out according to the manual it only has Rgb out therfore would have been a bit of o loser with a freeview input.

To Ian Dudley: Thanks for your information about the Panasonic manuals, I have used them and, in particular, consulted the manual about the recorder I mentioned in my first post. However, when first searching the Panasonic website for any of their products an enquirer is directed to a summary page and I think that it is important that Panasonic should always provide the correct information on all of their websites. There is no excuse for the gross mistakes which I have noted.
To Panasonic's credit it is possible to download manuals for many of their products which can no longer be found in the shops.

Oh absolutely! I wasn't trying to excuse the mistakes but rather point at ways to get round their incompetence

Think of it this way - Panasonic is not a UK company - they are Japanese. So dont use the UK site when there is a Japanese Global site that is always accurate:
Start here first when you are looking for something re recorders...
http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/diga/
You should end up here for the 2006 range - full spec sheets etc available for all the various European models.

I have advised Panasonic of this error. We shall see how they respond.

They seem to have corrected this problem now. However I did not even receive the courtesy of a reply.
As has been remarked the Panasonic website is full of flaws and holes.
It is surprising that commercial organisations of this scale can be so sloppy.

Speaking as an IT Manager who has worked on company websites several times, it's worth remembering that it's usually the marketing department who have primary responsibillity for the website content, and they most care about how it looks and whether it is optimised to get a good google rating. When there are technical details to be filled in, they will sub it out to an overworked expert in the reevent department, who just wants it off his desk asap so he can get back to his real job. 50/50 that expert is actualy the most junior/least loved as it tends not to be a popular job.
None of which is an excuse, it's just that the failings on the website dont hugely surprise me.
