Having just purchased a toshiba 37wlt66 and toshiba rd-xs24 i am having difficulty setting the tv to trigger the dvd recorder to auto start. On the tv whilst watching dtv, if I press the guide button it lets you set a timer that will auto trigger the recorder. I am having no luck with this I have tried fully wired scart leads into both inputs of the recorder. the manual for the tv says that the recorder must be av link compatable. Is this my problem. I have read the recorder manual a few times and have not found mention of this. Thanks in advance for any advice that you can give me Rob

Do you have it connected to the AV2 scart on the TV?

hi jaycee, yes I have tried connecting to av2 scart on the tv. I was thinking that there maybe something that i have to set in a menu somewhere. Hope to sort this out as going through the timer setup of the recorder is a pain and i have to remember to put the tv on the correct channel before I go out. thanks Rob

Well...the most obvious setting is under...
"Menu", "Timer Menu", "Programme Timers", "Set Timer"...do you have "Auto-Start VCR" set to "ON"?

Yes Jaycee I turned on that option when i set the timer from the guide. Been trying different inputs into the recorder but still no joy. Is it possible that the rd-xs24 does not support this feature. thanks again rob

It looks that way...I just downloaded the Installation manual from the Tosh site and it doesn't mention it at all.
Maybe someone who owns one can comment?
