Sony RDR HXD-910 Fan Always Running

I took possession of the Sony RDR HXD-910 this week & too have noticed that the Fan is operational all the time the machine is turned on. Very Pleased with the machine. First time I have had a Hard Drive facility for recording other than a Video Machine. Ideally I do not wish to have to send the machine back if the Fan element is actually a fairly inherent thing ?. The machine sits underneath my Television but is well ventilated all around. Any further comments on this issue very welcome.

Check PDC/VPS settings.
Check Smartlink settings.
Check Power Save settings.

Maybe one of this functions make fan running everytime?

The machine downloads the EPG updates in the early hours of the morning - that's when the fan can start up without user intervention. I should only be on for a few mins
