Talking Connecting dvd recorder to sky....HELP PLEASE

Hi everyone. I've just bought an lg package from currys consisting of 42" plasma + DVD recorder. I have scart one going into the TV and scart two going inot the vcr scart plug on the back of the sky box. I then have the Tv scart plug on the back of the sky box connected to the tv. This is the set up the manual tells me, and also the same set up I had when i had a vcr connected. Trouble is, when I try to record now of sky through av2 all I get is sound, no picture, just a message on the screen saying no signal. The only way I can record of sky is to recored by recording of channel 6, where my tv stuck it. Trouble is because its not recording via the scart connection, it's a crap pictue with mono sound, which kind of defeats the object of recording onto DVD. Is my dvd recorder knackered, or Have I not connected this up right. If any one can help it would be much appreciated

haven't got sky box but:

of the 2 scarts on the back - only one outputs RGB (think it's TV one) - and ideally should go to your recorder for best recording - if you have the non-rgb scart connected to the recorder, and the recorder set to RGB - that might be the syptoms you have

either switch it off rgb - or bestter still swap the scarts around on your sky box

Could be your scart cable isn't fully wired?

Just that you can get scart leads which don't have all pins connected.

I had this when I got my recorder. Thought the DVD was knackered!

I have solved the problem, although I can't understand why it works. Have swapped the 2 scarts on the back of the sky box round, so now vcr scart goes to tv and tv scart goes to dvd recorder. Weird.
