I bought ES10 form John Lewis because of its 2 year cover. I do think DVD recorders won’t last as long as VCRs so I need that 2 year free cover.

I have had DVD recorders(E30, E50, E55, ES10, ES20, I sold the E30 & E55)for nearly 4 years and I have had no faults. Panasonic DVD recorders are very reliable and an extended warranty is not necessary unless you have young children who may play with/damage the machine.

The Es10 has no freeview tuner. I am quite happy with the ES20D, it is an excellent machine and so is the freeview pic. Also has the integrated analogue tuner. I would forego the extended warranty and purchase the ES20D for around £200-£220. It is worth the £50 quid difference over the ES10.

You can check out some prices of multi region modded machines on Pricerunner UK.

Yes as lurcher says via S-video or composite. The British freeview model ES20D has no DV input although the European model lists DV on the European website.
http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/d...fications.html
Note that the model listed here is ES20 not ES20D.
BTW I called in Curry's this afternoon and the ES20D is £249-99. (It says - SAVE £30).

Not surprised the Comet website is also cheaper than the stores. I just noted in passing. Only called in Currys cos its next to PC World and I had to go there for the McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006 which is half price £25. Its £50 at Staples.
The lowest ES20D (Multiregion) on Pricerunner Uk is £207-50 inc delivery from RGB.

RGB Direct is now selling for £213.88 with free delivery.
Ebuyer is £200.43 with delivery by next Wednesday. (£199.78 delivered by Thursday).
I've just ordered from them.
Both retailers are supplying multi-region models.

Can anyone confirm what the remote looks like on this model? The one in the link above http://tinyurl.com/boof7
is different from the one illustrated in panasonic's manual e.g. in the manual it has a large green 'guide' button on the remote
